Welcome to Our Community
Our community opened in 2011 and offers a unique approach to providing Memory care services in the Kansas City area. We are a small, independently owned and operated company and our mission strives to make every day the best it can be for each resident through our innovative approaches.
Our Founder's Vision
I also think it’s worth mentioning that as the Heritage’s developer and owner, I have previously worked for several large corporations for many years and became frustrated with how people with dementia were cared for, so I decided to open my own community about 15 years ago. Being a small company, we can make decisions and care for people with dementia in ways that make sense to our residents and families. We view our resident’s families as care partners and value their input and involvement as much as they want.
What Makes Heritage Unique?
We believe Heritage is unlike any other memory care facility in the area. There are numerous things that make our community unique:
- First, there are three separate, state-of-the-art homes together on the same property, each consisting of 18 private apartments with private bathrooms. Each home also has many distinctive features including a home-like environment, exceptional activity areas, beautiful patio and courtyard with gardening boxes, living room with fireplace, outside walking paths, and many other beautiful features.
- Second, having three smaller residential homes, rather than one large facility, gives us a unique opportunity to provide a person-centered approach to care where we focus on each individual resident and their unique preferences and routines. In addition, we offer an environment that promotes a sense of being at home with family and friends. This comfortable feeling and family-style living is the essence of what we are striving to accomplish at Heritage.
- Third, we have created an innovative activities program that will be individually tailored to each resident’s interests, comfort level, strengths, and abilities. This program will be supervised by each of our Resident Care Directors and will promote an environment that provides the encouragement, support and ability to live an active and meaningful life.
- Finally, we understand the financial cost of caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairments. We know that an individual’s needs and abilities can change daily. Our philosophy is to provide whatever assistance is needed on any given day and not to worry about identifying costs associated with many different levels of care or individual services. Instead, we embrace an affordable, all-inclusive pricing structure rather than charging for individual services provided which can change week to week.
