Employee Reviews for Grand Brook
2.94 out of 5 stars. Based on 64 reviews
Employees of Grand Brook generally have positive things to say about the company. They appreciate the supportive team members, friendly staff, and the Christian atmosphere. They also appreciate the flexible hours and the ability to build strong relationships with the residents. However, some employees have complained about low pay, no room for growth, high staff turnover rate, lack of communication between different departments, and micromanaging. Management has been advised to set more regulations and rules, hire staff that are going to stay on long term, have more consistent expectations, and better follow through with staff. Additionally, they should take a more leading position within the company and teach employees when they do something wrong instead of just letting it go.By clicking "Get Exact Costs", you consent to being contacted either by My Caring Plan or our third-party partners at the phone number and contact information provided, including through the use of an automated dialer system. My husband has been a resident at Grandbrook, McKinney since 12/2019. I can not begin to express how wonderful and loving, the care he is receiving.the residents are treated as family in a true christian enviorment. No one could ask for better care anywhere. It gives so much peace of mind.
Although I have limited experience with memory care facilities, i have to say that Grand Brook Memory Care of McKinney has THE Most Amazing staff. From sales to director of nursing to director, and most importantly, the caregivers and folks that interact with the residents on a daily basis - every single one of these people actually seem to like their work and CARE about the residents! With the regular Zoom update meetings for family members and the WhatsApp group to share news and photos of events and activities, it's easy to feel connected to your loved one. It is really, truly amazing to me - and especially at such a stressful time for family members - choosing where to have your loved one live - the Grand Brook team is stellar! So happy we chose Grand Brook for our Mom, and even with her dementia, she still consistently tells me how sweet everyone is that works here. If you have to deal with these devastating illnesses, I'm happy to have Grand Brook along for the journey!
Grand Brook has been an answer to our prayers. Mom was moved to the McKinney home in 2019 and has transitioned well due to the ever present and loving staff. She is cared for 24 hours a day and the staff communicates well with our family for any needs or health issues. Thank you Stephen, Oracia, Jeanine, Robyn, Millie and all the rest of the staff that care for our loved ones. God Bless you!
My dad has been a resident of Grand Brook for over 4 years and he and my family feel like G B has been a gift from God. We had two previous experiences with other facilities that was not a good fit.Finding Grand Brook was my dad’s answer to his style of living. He loved it from the get go and felt like he was meeting old friends. As we drove up you are welcomed by a well groomed yard with outdoor seating, flower beds flourishing and a wonderful Texas welcome. Our guide spoke directly to my dad and made him comfortable. We noticed immediately the clean home like environment and well cared resident. Anytime I have visited it’s the smell of fresh food cooking and that is the key to dads heart. The staff is wonderful, caring, happy and up frontTo let you know of any change in dad’s condition. ILove the parties, activities, and programs too.Dena Williams
I cannot say enough about the excellent care my husband receives at Grand Brook Memory Care in McKinney TX 75070. Special recognition to Stephen White RN who’s ability to connect with my husband is beyond appreciated. There is no way our family could navigate the tragedy of advanced declining Dementia without the communication and dedicated care provided by Grand Brook Memory Care in McKinney TX.
It would take me writing an entire novel to properly express and explain what a true blessing Grand Brook-McKinney has been for our family. We found GBM a month ago after putting up with very sub par care and treatment for 2 months in an Allen Memory care facility. Oh! How I wish we had gone to GBM first—but so very thankful she is under their loving care now. Specifically, she now has a team helping her every step of the way to manage her medication. Under the watchful eye and extremely kind heart of Stephen White, RN, my mom is finally getting all the help she not only needs—but deserves. His patience and empathy not only for her, but our entire family, his 24 hour availability by text or phone, and his true love for his job are unequaled. He has become a member of our family. The rest of the staff is also amazing and it all starts at the top with the director, Oracia. She has created a team of skilled professionals who treat both residents and their families with dignity, care and love. Very important note: All employees at Grand Brook receive a minimum of 64 hours of training in memory care in their first 3 months—as well as ongoing training each month. This is what makes GBM unlike any other place we found. The activity program is also another amazing plus. Tria keeps residents engaged all day long with games, song, dance, trivia contests, and so much more. I have never seen her without a huge smile on her face as she moves from person to person to keep each one entertained, active and thinking. Taj is also so good with the residents. He sings, plays great oldies on his guitar, and works so well with everyone—no matter their level of ability to engage. Residents are encouraged constantly to participate as they can. My mom, who is unable to do that, is still engaged by merely watching and listening to the activity. One of our biggest issues when we came had to do with nutritious food. We are more than pleased with the menu offered at GBM. Fresh fruit and vegetables are a staple. Processed/frozen food is very limited. Spices and condiments are readily used and made us so happy. My mom did not work all her life to have to eat fish sticks and mystery meat—and Grand Brook changed all that for her. Many kudos to their culinary team for sure! Since we have only been there a month, we have not learned everyone’s names, but I feel the need to shout out to a few of the awesome people who have already made a wonderful impression on us! Emmanuel is a true blessing and has such a sweet relationship with my mom. Jimmy, Nancy, Maria, Vanessa, Taylor and Rebecca are always ready to help and do everything with such pleasant attitudes. I smile watching them interact with my mom. Their memory training shines in their ability to communicate and comfort her. Heidi is the admin assistant but spends so much time interacting with residents and families. She is always happy to help, energetic and such a sweet, bubbly presence! Robyn, is the community director and her enthusiasm for her job is very contagious—she is always there to answer questions and help. And last but not least, a huge compliment to Connie! She is an amazing housekeeper and takes such pride and ownership in her mission. Mom’s room is always beautifully clean and smells amazing!Grand Brook McKinney runs like a well oiled machine, but is chock full of loving care, professionalism, and personality. Thanking God every day for guiding us to Grand Brook. The End. (The way every good novel ends!)
My wife was a resident at Grand Brook Memory Care of McKinney. I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a residential home for their loved one with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Memory care is all they do and they are very good at it. The facility is warm and welcoming, with nice resident rooms and several pleasant common areas to provide variety. There is a real family atmosphere there, and visitors are always welcome. The staff is very experienced and show real devotion to their work and real care and concern for the residents. They treat their residents with dignity and respect - like family.
We have had an amazing experience with placing my Dad at Grand Brook. It's been a challenging road, but the entire team at Grand Brook have been so kind, warm and supportive to my family and my Dad. The DON, Stephen has been so patient, warm and helpful. I'm not sure we would be where we are without him! He and the entire team of caregivers, have shown us how they put the families and patients first and go above and beyond to ensure the best care for each person.
I was so distraught at what was available for my mom until I found Grand Brook. The day I set my foot in the door, met Stephen White the Director of Healthcare and his staff, I knew I found my mom's forever home. The facility is immaculate, not an ounce of trash any where on the property. Each staff member so courteous and kind and exude joy and compassion to help our loved ones. They enjoy what they do and it shows. The facility runs like a well oiled engine. They send videos and pictures of mom consistently. They engage her, love her, pray for her and with her. They have guided me with confidence and reassurance the entire way, I was very skeptical having a terrible experience at another facility. The Director, Executive Director and other staff members went the extra mile to reassure me they are in this business out of compassion for the elderly, providing the care they need and deserve and above all the dignity they deserve. It hasn't stopped not for a minute. I love visiting, it is not depressing but always active and joyful. They work hard to accommodate family needs no matter what the ask is. They have fought this pandemic with fierce fervor and resolve and in my opinion, they have won! This gem should not be overlooked, I don't know how I missed it but I am so thankful I found it.
My Dad has been a resident for over a year now and I cannot begin to tell you what an incredible place Grand Brook is. Every single employee makes us feel like we are part of a large family. We see daily pictures/videos of the daily activities which has been wonderful during Covid lockout. The director has advocated on our behalf w/ the state & w/senators to get the best for my Dad & the others. The design of the facility is such that there are “neighborhoods” & the residents are encouraged to roam & explore. There is plenty of natural sunlight & the facility is just a one story which has been great to visit Dad outside his window due to Covid restrictions. I cannot say enough wonderful things. HIGHLY recommend!! Happy Dad!
Grand Brook Memory Care has taken care of my mother and father on several respite stays. In the past, they have done an excellent job of taking care of them. Since my father's passing, they still care for my mother from time to time. They truly have a heart of compassion for taking care of their residents. In fact, I trust them more than any other home my parents have stayed in. When I pick up my mother, she always looks happy and smells good. The staff also puts a lot of effort into daily games and mind-stimulating activities. I highly recommend Grand Brook Memory Care!!
My wife of over 55 years has been a resident of GrandBrook McKinney for over a year and a half. I feel truly fortunate to have found a place that cares for her and who she is/was. Everything is run professionally and competently. The way they have handled the Pandemic has only highlighted their outstanding attributes. Everyone is a professional in every sense of the word. I couldn't ask for more than that! I visit as frequently as I can and It gives me great comfort to know that my life-partner is treated with respect and love.
Grand Brook Memory Care is excellent in all aspects. Nurse Stephen White, Staff director Oracia , and the kitchen staff as well as the care givers strive for excellence in all they do. This is especially true during the recent pandemic. They came highly recommended and we concur. The facility is kept spotless and maintained by staff such as Francisco and other workers. Grand Brook would be an excellent choice for anyone seeking this type of care.
My father lives at Grand Brook in McKinney and he loves it there. The residents and unbelievable staff really make it a remarkable home.During the pandemic we have been able to visit anytime because the property is all first floor and we can visit through the window. Some of my friends have loved ones in multi story properties and they are limited on visits. We can visit anytime through the window without an appointment.
My Texas sisters and I moved our dad to Grand Brook almost a year ago and our experience with him there since has been nothing short of phenomenal. To say the management and staff there are all outstanding, loving, caring, and skilled is the understatement of the century. The care that my dad has received and the attention to detail is almost unbelievable. He went there confused, angry, depressed, and withdrawn but now loves his life, his friends, and the staff like they were family. He is positive, engaged, happy, and content and I can say that is all because of the environment that is Grand Brook of McKinney. He absolutely loves the plethera of daily activities and the fact that if he feels like just sitting in the atrium and soaking up the morning sun, or sleeping in and taking breakfast in his room on a particular day, he can do that as well. The facility has a "homey" feel about it and is bright, airy, and always spotless and dad is always clean and well presented as well. The management and staff have always had excellent communication with the families but with the Covid challenges, they not only stepped up to the challenge but have gone over and above the call of duty in keeping us updated about our loved ones, communicating with them through Facetime and other means, and making sure we are familiar with the current Covid state regulations and progress. God touches this place and the staff that work there every single day, there is simply no other explanation for it. We rest in knowing that our dad is happy and well taken care of and that we don't ever have to worry about him. I live over 2000 miles away but told my husband that if I ever need to be placed in a memory care home, he has to promise to send me to Grand Brook, even if it means he rarely gets to visit me in person!
Grand Brook is a loving, caring home for our mother. Mom has received the best care. Alzheimer's is a sad disease but the caregivers at GB brighten my mom's day, everyday. Mom enjoys the music, activities and food. We know she is in a clean, safe community with cheerful and loving caregivers. They have become our family.
I was working on paperwork to get my husband moved in. Unfortunately, after the healthcare manager/RN had clearly indicated my husband could be accepted, I was notified several days later that he would not be due to his current condition being too much for staff level, given other resident needs.I just wish RN had not given me the green light prematurely, since that caused me to stop looking for a placement in an urgent situation.
