  • Exclusive Interview Insights

Our team personally reached out and conducted an insightful interview with this community on Sept. 27, 2023. Here's what we learned:

    Staff-to-Resident Ratios

The assisted living facility currently houses 27 residents. Staffing typically includes two aides during the day, with one aide overnight. There is also an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) on site for a few days a week and an RN (Registered Nurse) available at least one day a week for regulatory assessments and orders.

    Safety Features

For resident safety, the facility is equipped with pendants that serve as a call system for assistance.

    Transportation Services

Transportation is available to a certain extent, with a bus on campus primarily used for activities. However, there is currently no driver for the bus to facilitate appointments. Some residents use Metro Mobility cards for independent travel.

    Dining Experience

Residents are offered three meals a day with a meal package system, where they opt in for all meals or none. Alternative options are available, and snacks are provided between meals. A large percentage of the food is prepared from scratch on the skilled nursing side of the facility.

    Resident Grievance Process

The facility has a grievance process in place, with concern forms readily available near the housing manager's office. Residents can also voice concerns to staff, who will then follow up with leadership. The facility allows itself seven days to follow up and resolve any issues raised.

    Community Resources for Moving In

While the facility does not have a specific organization it works with to assist residents in moving in, families and sometimes churches often help with the process.

    Communication with Residents' Families

Communication with families is primarily in person, with nurses and the housing manager reaching out in case of a change in a resident's condition. It is unclear if newsletters are sent to families, but an activities coordinator does produce a newsletter for residents.

Respite Care and Short-Term Stay Options

The facility offers respite care and short-term stays, with furnished rooms available for this purpose. The cost and acceptance for respite care depend on the level of care the individual requires, which is determined by an assessment.

    Pet Policy

Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, with considerations made based on the resident's ability to care for the pet. The facility has been cautious with this policy due to past experiences, especially concerning cats and the associated maintenance.
