It was apparent to these concerned Lockhart citizens that there was a need for a Christian environment for the elderly who could no longer maintain their own homes. Their vision was to build a place where these ladies and gentlemen could receive necessary medical care, a balanced diet, and planned activities. The doors of our community opened in November of 1960. Golden Age Home received its nonprofit status in 1964 and has operated as a private nonprofit organization since that time. We are also proud to have received deficiency-free surveys since 2015. Today, Golden Age Home Assisted Living operates under the direction of a heartfelt volunteer Board of Directors and Executive Director, Nicole Burnett. We are home to approximately 40 residents ranging in age from mid-50s to 100+ years young in our independent and assisted living accommodations. At GAH each resident has their own efficiency/studio apartment. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, lawn care and household repairs are managed so our residents can enjoy an active quality of life. Residents are provided with emergency call systems to alert team members immediately if they need help. Team Members are in the community 24-hours a day. Optional services include bathing assistance, medication management, arranging doctor appointments, transportation, and more.
We offer support for those residents who need some assistance but are able to do many things on their own. Our dietary department brings home-style cooking that is high quality including a salad bar option at lunch and a soup appetizer for dinner. Residents choose each day from a variety of types of meals as well as menus. Golden Age Home also offers 16 rooms at a reduced rate for independent living residents. Grants help offset a fraction of the cost to support this program.
