The staff and DON are grossly unprofessional. The DON doesn’t give a damn what her nurses and CNAs do (or DON’T do is the better way to put it…) and the staff curse and swear, fight in front of patients, I even had one incident where two staff members were fighting STANDING OVER ME, because the CNAs laziness and incompetence was called out. Insane. Not to mention they ignore cal lights if they don’t feel like dealing with patient, leave people in filthy bedding and use diapers to avoid having to tend to people as often as they may require. They even ignore and blow off elder patients in distress and let them wander the halls aimlessly scared and undressed because they, and I quote one nurse, “can’t control him”. Unbelievably unprofessional.I also had all of my insurance-allowed days squandered because their nurses and CNAs would make excuses about not getting me out of bed (I wasn’t able to do it myself) and ready for my physical therapy sessions. Every excuse in the book was made from “short staffing” to “no no no I’m busy” to avoid helping me. The nurses and CNAs would also speak exclusively in creole to avoid me knowing what they were saying (they did this to basically everyone honestly) when it was obvious they were bad mouthing and talking crap about the patients. CNAs would come into my room and shut the door to speak in creole and talk down about people knowing I didn’t speak the language. They all speak English - albeit some not well - so they use it as a way to be sneaky and rude. Body language and facial expressions/eye movement don’t lie.I received a catheter upon arrival because the nurse practitioner wanted to help take off fluid weight from me - which was great - until her staff was careless with it. I had catheters almost pulled out of my body, I was mocked and laughed at by male CNAs for being scared and upset over them pulling on the tubing, and they never cleaned the tubing of it which lead me to a much more severe experience. All they cared about was my losing weight “to look better”, not to actually benefit my health. They triggered an almost lapse into an eating disorder that I haven’t had to deal with since I was 20.I got horrendously sick and they only checked me for COVID. Multiple times. I didn’t eat, they didn’t care. I couldn’t stay awake, they didn’t care. I had a fever over almost 102, they didn’t care. I was rushed to the hospital for respiratory issues only to find out I had a severe bladder infection and urinary tract infection that caused bacteria to get into my blood stream. I was sepsis and it would have killed me had I not gone to Lee Memorial. I was in the hospital for 21 days because of their negligence with catheter care and causing the infection. Let it also be noted I asked the nurse practitioner to take it out when I was having issues with it, her resolution was a resounding “no” and putting me on cranberry supplements. They also cut my residency as soon as I left the building for the hospital, by the way. When I was told by the nurse having me go to the hospital that wouldn’t happen. Anything for that $$$$. An empty bed is an opportunity to gouge families out of money. So I was just a number to them. It was a blessing though because I didn’t have to go back to that hell hole. All in all this place is a proverbial, figurative dumpster fire. The ONLY good part is the physical therapists. I worked with a number of them, three of them more closely, and they’re absolutely wonderful and helpful and motivating. It’s a shame so many good physical therapists work in such a dump.Between the gross incompetence and the lack of give a damn that most of the staff have, it’s absolutely astonishing to me that they haven’t been shut down. Oh, it might be because they fudge things around and go by the book when the state does inspections and then announce when the state worker or inspectors are gone so business can “resume as usual”. Horrible facility…I can’t stress enough how bad this place actually is.
Check my gma out, early, against their nurses ( what nurse) recommendation , they let her get attacked, did nothing, not even notifing us, or have her injuries looked at, then lie and try to say she was admitted with dog bites from hospital...the place smells if urine so bad ur eyes will burn.body fuilds on walls, floors etc.Extremely unsanitary, unprofessional upper staff, Rude, i was shocked beyond believe by the heads of nursing and social services there. they give 0 bout the patients actually threatened to with hold medications and home care if i removed her ( they dont know know the laws, or that they arnt her doctor)They dont give the care needed, she was there a week , no physical therapy done, didnt even have a walker in her room so she could get up.place is money insurance fraud, and do not send anyone one u love here
This by far the worse place I’ve seen. There no compassion what so ever. My mother has fell at least twice that we know of. And they tell her she better not tell anyone about. That she didn’t fall. She just slipped down. Not sure at 84. There’s a difference. Her arms have all the skin pulled off and blood blisters on her hand were they drag her back up. Her bed has been broke for two weeks. And can’t get in and out. With out help. But when she ask for help. They get mad that she ask. Then make her wait for hours to help. I could go on and on. If I could give this place a minus 5. That’s what I would do. We will be making complaints to the state. They need to either close this place. Are get a new director. I know it’s tough to deal with elderly people. But that’s the job you take. If you can’t do it. Then go find another job. There’s a special place for people that treat older folks this way. But I will pray for them. And hope they think about how they want to be treated. When they get older.
No one saw this happen. NO ONE called family to let them know. Thank God for friends that work at Hospital for letting me know he was injured.4th day in....my 90 year old father falls out of wheelchair hits back of his head, yet somehow manages to climb backup into his chair according to what they told Lee Memorial ER Doc. Nurse here stated he is at risk for falling.....I'd think so since he was posied down for 25 days in Hosp.
One star only because there was not a choice for -100.Horrible staff and it starts at the top. Ms Russ is condescending, rude, uninformed of patient stats, on and on. Please do not allow anyone to become a patient here.My family member was there for two months during COVID lock down so we were not able to check on her. After two months of Rehabilitation there she was sent to the hospital with a UTI, Pneumonia, Severely Dehydrated, Brusied and Battered. This facility and staff members will be held accountable.AGAIN DO NOT ALLOW FAMILY, FRIENDS, OR ANYONE SPEND EVEN ONE DAY HERE.
They called to say they were evacuating my grandfather from this facility due to an impending hurricane. They did not move him. Then they called to say they changed his room because he was overheating because they didn’t have generators and left him in a hot room for days. They’re negligent and he died in their care because they make it so hard to get anyone out of this horrid place. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND.
