Our experience was beyond horrific . The company , Navion , that purchased this facility in late 2021 is totally about profit NOT about residents . My husband was placed after I was sold a completely false representation of what the facility and their memory care unit , would and could offer a person in the early stages of Alzheimer disease. I was required to hand over a 7,900.00 non refundable community fee in order to secure a room for him based on the representation that rooms were “very difficult to obtain due to current demand. “ These were All misrepresentations by the then marketing director to get the contract signed , which provided her a commission on her way out of town where she would move to another Navion facility in Charlotte . My husband was in earlier stages of Alzheimer and my questions and concerns focused around activities for those aware of their surroundings , as well as my concern that he be provided daily access to exercise and brain stimulation . I was told by the marketing director that he would be included in supervised day trips outside of the facility with others weekly , allowed to have free access to walk outside in what was promoted as a “secured/gated area “ for daily exercise , and would be involved in stimulating activities based upon his personal cognitive and physical capabilities. I later learned that this facility is not permitted to allow any residents access to the gated area unsupervised , as it was not sufficiently secured . As a result their “promise free access “ was actually non existent as the doors were kept locked all the time . Every single representation was false , and his adjustment as well as his state of mind immediately began to deteriorate in this facility . His first care plan meeting did not occur until months into his struggling residency, and after the facility had already collected over 23,000 in fees . The facility began formulating a plan to force him out due to their inability to deliver the care that they had represented before he was admitted . This experience has been beyond traumatic , and is the singular most devastating and emotionally draining experience that I have faced , and continue to deal with . The diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer disease is in itself life changing for victims and families , and the ability of a FOR profit enterprise to prey on the desperation and vulnerability of families dealing with this disease is unconscionable . I hope this information will assist others to investigate far beyond the marketing and sales representations so that they never have to go through what my husband and I have lived .
