    Overall Ratings

Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center is a nursing home facility that holds a 2-star overall rating, situating it in the bottom 40% of facilities based on comprehensive assessments, thus it falls below the state's average rating. While the nursing home may not excel in all areas, it does take pride in its health inspection rating. Standing in the upper half of facilities in this aspect, its health inspection rating notably surpasses the state average. However, the facility has room for improvement in terms of the quality of service. Sitting in the bottom 40% of facilities for its quality rating, it remains slightly lower than the state average.

    Staff Ratings

Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center is a nursing home currently scored with a 1-star staff rating, noted as the lowest possible rating. It ranks within the poorest 10% of facilities in terms of nursing aid staffing hours per resident per day, with a current record of 1.37 hours, below its state's average of 1.94 hours. Concerning LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) staffing hours, it performs better being in the top 50% of facilities, with 0.91 hours per resident per day as opposed to the state's average of 1.02 hours. On the downside, this nursing home falls in the bottom 40% in terms of RN (Registered Nurse) staffing hours, which is currently 0.48 hours per resident per day, short of the 0.6 state's average. It similarly ranks low for licensed staffing hours per resident per day, with 1.38 hours compared to the state's average of 1.62. Covid Data

The Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center is sadly lagging behind in terms of vaccination rates for both residents and staff. The center falls into the bottom 40% of facilities for its resident vaccination rate, which is currently 56.8%, notable lower than the state average of 61.9%. This indicates that less than two-thirds of the residents are up to date with their vaccinations, which falls below the standard of most other facilities. The situation is even more concerning for the staff vaccination rate; at just 6.2%, the center falls into the bottom 30% of facilities. This rate is significantly lower than the state average staff vaccination rate of 25.9%. The Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center needs to prioritize an increase in vaccination rates among both residents and staff to enhance health safety measures.

Simultaneously, it is in the bottom 30% with a higher proportion (23.82%) of residents who have received an antianxiety or hypnotic medication compared to the state average of 19.87%. Interestingly, it showcases strength in certain areas, standing as part of the top 30% of facilities where fewer residents (8.76%) have received an antipsychotic medication, less than the state's figure (14.04%). Furthermore, this facility is also in the top half for having less residents (0.8%) with a catheter inserted into their bladder, overall less than the state's percentage (1.01%).

Additionally, the center falls in the bottom half in terms of the percentage of short-stay residents requiring outpatient emergency department visits, with a rate of 12.28% that is surprisingly lower than the state's average of 13.11%. I’ll start this review by saying thank god for Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center, and all of the wonderful staff members there. A few years ago my father was diagnosed with dementia. As time went on, we realized that his needs had surpassed anything our family could provide for him. It was time to find a facility that had the professional care he needed. We honestly couldn’t have wished for a better place. The care and love that my father receives from the staff is monumental, and I’m incredibly grateful for the wonderful communication I receive from his care takers. Huge thank you to Brittney, Evie, Geilly, Kelly, Melanie, Tammy, Sarah, Candy, and everyone else at Culpeper Health & Rehabilitation Center.

I had a horrific accident and spent three months in CHRC. Everyone was kind and professional to me. Especially My physical therapist Kay Ryan. She was not only my PT but my coach and confidant during the entire therapy program. Her words of encouragement made me stronger each day and finally reached full mobility. Thanks for the confidence and reassurance. I would highly recommend this great place❤️. In addition I would like to recognize Steve Hauger. My physical therapist for my leg. He was genuinely known for his safety and concern for you and your safety. He reassured me in every exercise and applauded me all the way! I am finally walking on my own an it feels great! Thanks for making it a fun place and positive atmosphere!

They have the most knowledgeable, hard working and caring team of therapists I’ve ever met, as well as the sweetest staff members. This place was just terrible! They would take up to an hour to help my relative to the restroom. They would walk in and tell him they needed to find a bedpan, this would happen several times before he was actually assisted. Then if he had an accident the staff scolded him for it. He was told that he was too needy and difficult. IT took over 24hrs for the nursing staff to realize he was sick and decided to call 911 at 1:30am. By this time, he was having a heart attack. He was there because he needed rehab after a stroke. He never received any PT. Needless to say he will not be returning there. Unless you don't care about your family member, don't let them go to this facility!

My Grandmother was here recently. She came to the facility in rough shape, she had gotten an awful bedsore from the hospital. The staff were so great and helpful, in just a couple days her wound was already looking so much better. She received better care here than she did at Mary Washington hospital. The nurse Practitioners were so helpful and attentive to us. They took time to understand her medical history and speak to her specialist. It was hard for my grandma to do therapy because she was so weak but they came every day to help get her out of bed and move her so she didn’t get stiff. Our family is beyond thankful for the care she received.
