3.06 out of 5 stars. Based on 1000 reviews
Employees of Brookdale Senior Living generally have positive things to say about the company. They appreciate the free parking, paid orientation and training hours, and nice residents. However, they have noted that the health insurance is expensive and the deductibles are high. Additionally, CNA's PTO for the first year is nearly nonexistent and the pay deposit system is unusual. There is also a lack of work-life balance, as employees are often called in on days off due to staff shortages. Employees have also reported that management does not advocate for them and that communication is not always good. They have also noted that the pay rate is low and that the facility is often understaffed. Employees have also reported that the security system is an issue and that the training is too automated. Advice to management includes improving communication, fostering staff development, enhancing benefits, and stopping taking credit for work that the front-line workers conduct.Healthcare Nearby

Buyer beware. These people don’t use a gun, they rob you with a pen...My husband died after 35 days and multiple falls in the facility. I was charged for 4 days before he was admitted and another 12 after he died. I was told that is the way it’s done! I paid $12,580.98 for 35 days of service. I was told that they will refund $2,508.00. My husband passed over 6 weeks ago. I have received nothing. Talk about elder abuse!
My mother was placed here with level 2 dementia... Formally diagnosed with Alzheimer's.  I was not thrilled with a few things.  Notably the tiny rooms which barely holds a bed nightstand dresser and chair.  Also the dining rooms are depressingly dark and cafeteria ish in appeal.  Don't look at the website ...there are no  table cloths here...not even a placemat.  But she had a ground level room...nice yard to walk in...lovely exec director and lively activities director...for .6 months.  Then they left.  Not replaced ...6 months went by no director no activities.... I saw my mom decline ...further and further.  We moved, and Emeritus tried to win us back.  No way!I'm thrilled with her new accommodations.  But I will wait 6 months and see how thus gies before posting.  Emeritus us overpriced and cannot be depended upon!
I would like to say Thank You to all at Brookdale who take of my wonderful Mom. I toured many facilities which they were very nice and clean and professional. I chose Brookdale I think it is clean and has a very warm home like feeling for my mom. I like when my mom is the living room watching tv or an activity they offer snacks that is the feeling of a home not just a care facility. I really love the way each and every person treats my Mom at Brookdale I do not consider them staff they are our extended family and I sure feel blessed to have them.
My husband became violent with me. This was the only safe place for me to put him. He does very well at Brookdale. They monitor his moods and give him the needed medicine only when needed.I have peace of mind knowing he is well cared for. Eden Hospice keeps me informed on his progress and has taken a huge weight off my shoulders.
Brookdale Reno is such a valuable resource in our community. I The communication from them is quick and wonderful. Not only do I work with them on a professional level as we are both in the same industry but they took absolutely wonderful care of my personal dear friend for over a year until the day she passed. She couldn't have had better care. Thank You for all you do to all of those who need it the most.
My dad, Neil Kippen, was at Brookdale the last 14 months of his life and recently passed away. The staff there are absolutely wonderful and so caring. My dad was a physician and though long retired they always referred to him as Dr. Kippen or Dr. Neil. They showed him the utmost respect. They work very hard to involve all the residents in the activities of the community. The staff are all very patient and kind. They also made the family feel very welcome with each and every visit. Special thanks to both of the Marias, Jennifer, Chris, Alex, Memo, Candace, Eva, Dia, Priscilla, Sherri, Blanca, and all the other staff on the Garden Unit.
Recently we had to place my 84 year old father at Brookdale. I can tell you touring assisted living facilities in the Reno area made us eant to cry.My father was dispaying some severe memory issues and had just been released from the ICU.Brookdale was a Godsend. The place is extremely clean and the staff is very professional and truly care about their patients. For those that do not know Nevada does not have a nurse patient ratio and the local assisted living facilities seemed to exploit that (60 patients to 2 nurses and 5-6 CNAs) should be criminal.I dont know what the ratio at Brookdale is but a staff member was always close. Once when the assistance cord was pulled they literally came running.Unfortunately my father passed. They even sent flowers to the family. We also lost a family memento and they searched for over a week and actually found it.If you have a need to place a family in a memory care facility I would recommend you tour this facility. The smile on the staff and patients faces tell most of the story.A sincere Thank you to the Brookdale Staff for making a very difficult situation as pleasant as possible.
Management doesnt care about redidents. Ardith is a hostile ED....i quit that place after a year and a half ...i loved the residents. ...i have had health issues that caused me to be on light duty. They frown upon that ...then my husbands grandma had a heart attack i had to leave work to go to st marys ...then took my husband to get coffee an thrift store shopping to get his mind off stuff about 145 ...15 min b4 my shift would have been done ...an walking out of store ardith and her son see me my three kids and my husband ...mind u we just left icu seeing his grandma from a heart attack ....ardith says good to know your grandma isnt in the hospital ......i tried showing her a picture of us just visiting her she sd it wasnt me ...lmao ....heartless after all the care i give ...she can be so heartless to her staff ! I quit ! She clearly pushed me out of that building because i missed a week due to medical issues ....then called my doctors office like 6 times ...then she wanted to tell me when my doctor could get me in next to see me ....im a staff member not a resident of your facility you have no right seeing when i can be seen next ! Completely unprofessional
