The Bayside Health & Rehabilitation Center is one such nursing home, but it unfortunately falls in the bottom 10% of facilities in terms of hospitalizations per 1000 days. This is especially worrisome because the hospitalizations per 1000 days is higher than the state average. Additionally, the nursing home is in the bottom 10% of facilities in terms of outpatient emergency department visits per 1000 days. Do not believe the five star rating this place received from CMS. This is the most unprofessional excuse for a health care facility I have ever seen. Mom was transferred in on a Friday with an order for onIV antibiotics which she did not receive for several days. She had a fall, and I was not notified. I was told that she would immediately begin receiving both physical and occupational therapy. She was there three days before seeing physical therapy and six days before even meeting the occupational therapist. I reported on a Monday that my mother had a very bad toothache leaving her unable to eat. They took all of the information about her dentist and assured me that they would make an appointment and get her there. It is now Thursday, and they did not make an appointment until I prompted them. Only problem is, they made an appointment and then did not make any moves to get my mother there. I have had no communication from administration unless I initiated, and come to find that most of the information posted on their website is inaccurate. If you have any way to avoid this place, please do. I am hoping that we can get my mother out of here before they are able to do any real damage.
My father spent several weeks at Bayside Rehab. It was a less than stellar experience. Employees were slow to attend to the needs of the patient. When he asked for a cup of water it took him 3 hours to receive it. The staff were not eager to help my father, who was confined to his bed, with minimal tasks. He was a kind and compassionate man and did not look for issues, but he told my sisters and me about several issues he incurred while he was there. To avoid the unnecessary poor care, I recommend a different facility for your loved one.
I read the review on yelp and thought I'd made a mistake, but after visiting several times they must have been somewhere else. We've unfortunately been to several skilled nursing facilities and Bayside Health and Rehab is the BEST! The people were ALL INCREDIBLY friendly and happy. I've never seen so many old people moving and grooving as in the hallways here. If you ever have a chance at walking again- it's here! This is an unsolicited unpaid personal experience review! I had to set the record straight.
WARNING: Do Not, REPEAT No Not send your love one to this place. It will be their worse nightmare. This place is the worse rehab center anywhere. They physically abused and assaulted my wife while she was a patient there. They treat the patients like prisoners. The nursing staff are a bunch of lazy and incompetent people I have ever met. Nobody there want's to do their job either. They don't want to answer the call bell or help the patients to the bathroom. And if the patients soils themselves the staff yells at them. And they also steal from the patients. My wife was there for about a week and had to be transferred to the emergency room and she had to be admitted. They call themselves a 5 star facility but the truth is they're really a 2 star facility. When a patient is discharged they give them a survey to take. Bayside keeps all the decent surveys and discards the bad surveys. This makes them look like a 5 star facility. I know this for a fact because I know someone who use to work there and was handling all the surveys. What a scam. If there are any good reviews on here it's probably from Bayside themselves. Don't believe all the hype about it being a 5 star facility because it's not.The staff are very rude and cruel to the patients. So please if you really care about your love one then please don't bring them to Bayside.
Thank You to the wonderful staff for helping my loved one get back on her feet and home safely. Everything from the administration to the nursing staff was nothing but excellent. Can’t recommend this facility enough. If you want superb therapy, this is the place to be. They really do care!
Horrible. They didn’t have a pharmacy available and thought it was acceptable to not fill an antibiotic prescription for 4 days. They left wet bandages on an open wound, or forgot to dress it at all and left just a wool sock. The first 48 hours my husband was there they gave him too much insulin and the wrong meals and he had to send him back to the hospital with sugar of 17. While he was in the hospital they lost half his cloths. The first day back they ran his phone through the laundry with his linens and destroyed it, then his sugar went up to 600 because they didn’t want to risk it dropping.they told the EMT he had been admitted for a stroke, which was incorrect. The next day he was sent back with a prescription for antibiotics and since their In-house pharmacy was closed for Christmas they didn’t fill it and were planning on waiting 3 days. His sugar went back over 600 and I took him to the hospital myself. He will never go back there again and I would warn anyone who expects actual care to avoid it. People crying “help me” from their rooms, people not changed when they had accidents, televisions blaring at top volume and alarms going off constantly, and the staff caring more about distributing Christmas cheer than medical care.
Mom was there 2 hours. I got 4 calls. Can't visit. She waited an hour for oxegen treatement, stayed wet for hours, can't get water, nurses nasty, her roommate been there 24 hours laying on plastic no sheet on bed. I've called several times, left messages and have yet to get a call back. Saw a rating of 4 star. Wouldn't have had mom anywhere. I can't sleep at night.
This place was awful! They had terrible food! My son doesn't eat pork and they never had any non pork meat or selections for him for breakfast. They never had enough food for a 40 year old man. The rooms were not clean! My son had an outburst due to his traumatic brain injury from years ago and they wanted to just kick him out in the street and not do anything to help him! I would never recommend this place for anyone.
It was a nightmare. I honestly thought I was going to die. I begged God to not let me die in that place. There were roaches flying around and one got stuck in the therapist hair. She knocked out and killed it. However she was unable to complete treatment because she said that she felt bugs were all over her. Admission was 3 hours. After I arrived. Patients were kind and informative. Staff refused to give my meds on time. My b/p ran up 186/110 this happen twice. Then they mixed up my b/p meds and have too much. My b/p went down to 90/70. I was so scared that I was going to die. I was supposed to have ice every 2 hours to take the swelling down off my knee because I had a knee replacement. A 85 year old patient helped me by finding a wash cloth and towel so I could wash up and stop using my sock. There was a strange man riding his wheel chair through the hall and into my room at night. I couldn’t sleep well because I had to watch out for that man and scream at him to get out of my room. They told lies on me to my family therefore they thought I should stay in there when I was begging to get out. I finally left against doctors orders which didn’t matter since in 5 days I had not seen a doctor. I saw PA one time who thought I had a blood clot and ordered a MRI but I never saw him again.. I was terrified and afraid for my life. I just wanted to go home. If I could put less than 1 star I would. If you have a live one there make sure you check on them and visit often. I’m sure they would love to see you.
Our 96 yo mother has made Bayside her home base for more than 3 years now. After an initial adjustment, she found the staff be friendly and responsive, food good, and enjoyable activities kept her engaged. She really wants to be able to do her exercise of being walked down the hall with an aide but due to short staff since Covid, it is rare that she is given the opportunity. She is becoming more immobile as a result. The activities used to be a highlight for her but she is finding that since Covid, the scheduling and follow through is inconsistent so she is unable to plan to be ready in time. There should be a daily calendar for residents. Since Covid, the aides seem to need more help and more training.
This place is completely unorganized and has terrible customer service. My grandfather is staying here while he heals from a surgery and I scheduled an appt to visit him. When I called to verify my appt I was told I was not on the books. I spoke to the supervisor their and she basically told me that I made the appt incorrectly and I could not come and visit. They have people working their who are making appts that should not or the person who is making appts isn't doing their job and actually putting the appt in the system. The supervisor was unhelpful and a little rude and when I advised her to talk to the team to be sure only the right people are making appts she just kept telling me to call back Monday. This is unacceptable and frankly a really poor experience for someone who is staying her when visits are the highlight of their time at the rehab center.
