I have recently had several people at Avon Health Center for a short term of care. The most recent person left there on 3/18/19. Her last day of being there I requested a measure of additional comfort which required an additional piece of equipment. It would have been easy to just say, "we'll try". I mean really, what more could you ask for? But, these nurses made it happen within the hour and it really made a difference in the patient's comfort. All the care I have experienced at Avon HC has been wonderful an I would recommend it this place to anyone.
My mother was at Avon Health with my Step Father and my Mom was sent to UCONN health and not allowed to come back to her residence at Avon Health after 10 months to rejoin her husband. He passed away after his heart was broken by her being sent to another home after six weeks. I warned them that this would happen but there was no care at all with his well being. Thanks Avon Health for a death on your hands!
I have been in the short term rehab unit six times in the last 10 years, twice in 2019. There is no place I’d rather go. Avon Health Center Is clean and I felt safe and well cared for. There are common areas for spending time with fellow patients and visitors. My visitors and I were able to spend time together and play cards. Nurses and aides were responsive and accommodating. Patience and respect for caregivers and fellow patients is the name of the game. I was impressed with the case management and follow-up. The OT and PT was top notch. I loved sitting on the porch and in the gazebo. The grounds are beautiful and lend themselves to a healing atmosphere. It’s not perfect, but for what it is, it’s the best it can be.
The place is always short of staff I recently applied the assistant director of nursing was rude first she said she hired someone else for my portion then when I asked was there any other positions she just said insolent be able to work it and cut me off and hang up on me not a company to work for
