(Please read my prior Yelp review, posted 11/24/2015)I want to update my prior review of At Home Senior Living, Emmy Ng, RN, owner/manager, giving it the highest possible rating!!! My mom lived there for the better part of two and a half years, and recently passed away. Everything I wrote in 2015 remained true throughout our stay, once again speaking to the consistency of high-quality care over the years at this home. AHSL is truly unique, clearly and without a doubt the best residential care home you will find. Here are some additional thoughts after our years there. I was advised by a range of people not to move my mom from her then current living situation, and I was scared to do it! But AHSL defies that conventional (and I believe, flawed) wisdom by implementing strategies that make the transition very doable. Emmy had a variety of ideas for improving medications, diet, social interactions, etc. that gave my mom a real lift after the move. And as my mom aged, Emmy and her staff adjusted and responded to my mom's declining abilities with smart personal care strategies and joyful, customized events, so that my mom continued to feel part of the community in very special ways. This is the "icing on the cake" type of care that elevates this home above other options. It meant that my mom felt included and worthwhile, the key to her happiness during her elder years.Emmy is an excellent communicator. She uses email, texting, phone, and of course in-person discussion to keep her families (and their health care providers) fully informed. I live locally, but I talked with family members who lived as far away as Washington State and they were so complimentary about this aspect of AHSL. Emmy answered all of my inquiries, followed up on issues, and kept me plugged in to my mom's care. I always felt Emmy's expert presence, even when she wasn't in the building! This was SO important to me, particularly after struggling with the dismal communication at assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. While Emmy can't guarantee that her residents will not need hospitalization and/or skilled nursing, I figured that our best chance of avoiding the stress and deficiencies of those institutions would be At Home, and I am thrilled to report that such was the case. My mom was able to remain in place when the rapid decline came at the end, sleeping comfortably in her own bed, with the expert support of Emmy, her amazingly thoughtful staff, Dr. David Jones at the helm, with hospice nurses, and me by my mom's side. As sad as I felt that final day, a nearly 100 year life doesn't wind down any better than that.I know how challenging this responsibility can be, and I wish everyone out there the best possible outcome for your own loved ones, and for yourself! I consider moving my mom to At Home Senior Living the best decision I made for her, bar none!!!
At Home Senior LivingMy husband and I are very favorably impressed by At Home Senior Living. We had a friend who lived there for some time. She was treated very kindly, like a member of the family. The care she received was completed with kindness and professionalism. Emmy Ng and her staff are exceptional in their approach to taking care of the elderly. The new building is very open and overlooks a lovely garden with various plants blooming throughout the year. We visited unannounced frequently and each time the premises were emaculate in appearance and attractiveness and so was our friend.I would highly recommend At Home Senior Living to anyone seeking kind, capable care for those they love.
My mother has been living and thriving for almost three years at Emmy Ng's At Home Senior Living. She couldn't be happier with the loving care from Emmy, an RN, and her remarkable staff. Everyone is warm, kind, patient, and highly skilled in supporting the elderly. Emmy's two homes side-by-side and beautiful gardens are a lovely and calming place. My mother enjoys the home-cooked food that includes plentiful fresh fruits and vegetables, often from the farmer's market. She always tells me how lucky she is to live at At Home Senior Living, and every time I visit her, I agree! Emmy brightens the lives of all the residents with frequent special events, such as karaoke with the talented staff belting out their favorite songs, games with visiting Boy Scouts, and fun parties for all the holidays. Emmy attends to every need, including bringing in a podiatrist for regular visits, purchasing necessary personal supplies, and escorting my mother to medical appointments. Since I live in a different state, I couldn't possibly handle all of these details, and Emmy always is efficient and prompt. She also emails me photos and videos to share special moments, so when I phone my mother, we can discuss the details of her life. With Emmy's expertise as a geriatric nurse, I have been fortunate to benefit from her guidance in many delicate situations. She has suggested activities and purchases that are exactly right for my mother. In my experience, it is extremely challenging to find the right home for an elderly parent, and I first selected an assisted living facility that just didn't work out. When a room became available at Emmy's At Home Senior Living, we moved my mother there, and have felt so grateful ever since.
This is a residential care home that doubles as a wonderful haven for women needing assistance. Emmy Ng is the owner of this amazing home. She is well versed in all areas of geriatric care and I simply am in awe of her devotion to each resident in her wonderful homes. She has created an oasis. I recommend her homes highly. You will not be surprised that she has a wait list. I cannot recommend her homes highly enough - she is a true advocate and friend to her fortunate residents.
