3.79 out of 5 stars. Based on 680 reviews
Cons:I wish we had more time to spend with our residents, but I understand that there are so many of them and we can only do so much. Advice to Management:Keep up the good work and never forget why we do what we do - for our residents! Aegis Living is a great place to work with a supportive corporate culture, excellent training, and a strong sense of purpose. Employees appreciate the friendly staff and residents, as well as the flexibility and benefits. However, there are some drawbacks, such as low pay, long hours, and micro-management. Employees suggest that management should act with more respect and appreciation for their staff, pay them more, and provide better communication and equipment. They also suggest that marketing should be more honest and transparent, and that more nurses should be hired to help with medication management.Healthcare Nearby

A great facility with friendly, caring staff. Long hallways to take your mom or dad on nice walks, and a few outdoor seating areas to enjoy the nice Kirkland weather. With well versed cooking staff tending to the elderly's dietary needs and an astounding nursing and care team staying on top of the medical needs, you can rest assured to leave your loved ones here. They will be well cared for and be a great part of the Aegis family!
I am sorry about the person who had a relative in memory care and wasn't happy. My mother has been there for 3 years and they have been absolutely fantastic. I visit every other day at different times of the day and recently there has been a few additions to this area. I am particularly happy that my mom who is one of their most active residents in that area gets to go to some of the other activities but she also enjoys doing activities with Michelle who is now full time in memory care. My mom got to Aegis shortly after they opened the secured memory care so I saw it from the time when it was new. I have been kept informed with the expansion plans which will make more room for additional activities and will give the people more space to walk. I can only say that if the furniture appeared old it is not as I saw it from the time when it was new. Some of my mom's friends have been those ladies who come to do day stay before being there full time which is the way things should be done. Some of my mom's friends have been those ladies who come to do day stay before being there full time which is the way things should be done. Unfortunately the residents in memory care usually have incontinence problems so that explains why some times they may get worned out (the chairs) as they get washed a lot. I have seen Arash the wonderful maintenance director clean every where. I toured with a placement agency at least 10 places and I would never choose because of the looks (I toured places that have stainless steel appliances and marble countertops) but because of the genuine care they can provide. I met Stephanie the new director a few weeks back and she has already made great improvements. I would definitely recommend this aegis.
The memory care area in this facility is run down and poorly fun. The aids are caring and try their best in a bad environment. It is grossly over priced and it is clear that someone is getting rich off the misfortune of others. The residents are often dirty and sit for hours in uncomfortable and dirty furniture. The area is dreary, dark and smelly. Aegis charges a $6,000 fee just to move in. They call it a community fee but it's pure profit. Our loved one was moved into a room that had filthy carpet and was badly in need of paint and there was a smell from day one that never left. They also bring residents that don't live in this area into it for care and this is a huge load on the already thinly stretched staff. The administration is horrible. They don't return calls and seldom follow through. The laundry system is horrible and we have had hundreds of dollars in bedding simply disappear and put on other resident's beds. From the first time our loved one's bedding was changed she had sheets that were not hers and we never did locate them. I would look elsewhere for memory care. They keep the rest of the facility looking very nice and pour the money into what you see at first while the memory care people is treated like a second class society. As if it doesn't matter because many are unaware. It is an existence not living. Go elsewhere.
Aegis Lodge has given my family the ultimate gift. After 2 years as primary caregiver for my mom at home, the move to Aegis Lodge has allowed me to return to the role of daughter. My time and energy are spent on love and connection rather than physical tasks. The staff genuinely cares for my mom and has taken the time to get to know her. Her care needs are met consistently and always with respect for her dignity. I can sleep at night knowing mom is safe and comfortable.
I'm a former employee, and I will say that this is hands down one of the best places I've worked for. The residents are taken care of extremely well. The staff all work together as a strong team to make sure that all residents needs are met, also treating everyone with kindness and with respect. The kitchen staff work very hard to make great options and delicious food for the residents. Always delivering every meal with a smile and ebnjoy getting to know every resident personally. Everyone for House keeping to the GM, care very deeply for all of the residents well being, they show tremendous amount of respect, and will always try their best to make everyone feels welcomed home.
I live in England and am the niece of Ruby L Smith who is in Aegis Lodge. Until the Coronavirus epidemic I visited my Aunt twice a year but of course cannot come over now.I am most impressed by the care given to my Aunt. I ring her every day and she is always telling me how well looked after she is and she couldn’t be in a better place. She is 96 years old and so grateful for the care given as I am and to know that she is in good hands.I am kept informed of how the Aegis is coping with this epidemic and to have kept the residents safe is so admirable. Such is the care.
I almost didn't tour this community based on the review I had seen from last year but I still did and I know this was the best thing I could have done.As it turns out, I came in the midst of a change of directors. My mom had been living at a community in Bothell (Chateau) that could no longer take care of her, in fact they were about to ask my mom to move out (this was a community (non Aegis) with no memory care which now all the sudden they have?). The guy who used to run Aegis Lodge (which I guess from the past review) ended up going to Chateau and Aegis ended up getting a new team. I moved my mom in to Aegis last April. As I said, I didn't get to experience the past team but this one has been nothing but exceptional to my mom. The nurses email me or call me at least twice a day to update me on my mom's status, making me feel as if I am the only family member they care about and I know many families feel well taken care of like I do.The activities director changed recently and my mom is a lot more engaged. I have seen a lot of improvements, both upstairs and in memory care as my mom is a candidate for their memory care when it expands next year.My mom hated the food at her last place and when she moved here she wasn't too happy but the team even worked on a special menu for her and she is a lot happier. I would really recommend everyone to not just make a judgement without talking to residents and meeting the staff and the community. I was really pleasantly surprised and glad I followed my instincts.
I have never written an online review but I have to do what i can to warn other families. My father lives in the assisted living section. Prior to March/April of this year we were fairly satisfied with his care. The building was clean, the caregivers seemed genuinely concerned for his well-being, and we felt respected as family members. With a change of director in March/April of 2012 we saw a huge decline. Many staff members just 'disappeared' including both nurses, both activity directors, and the patient care coordinator. Almost everyone who knew dad's history was gone within a few weeks. Other staff members then began grumbling to us about pay, longer hours, and unfairness about promotions. We had never heard one complaint from the workers before the change in management. Dad is now cared for by a different caregiver all the time - all of them telling us they're 'new'. Well, yes. And where are the other caregivers? The staff tells us that they apply to work elsewhere as soon as they can. Stephanie, the director told another family that families think there is a lot of turnover but really she is just ADDING to the staff. Then where did all the people go who we had depended on? She is not to be trusted. The climate in the building is negative and the care has become substandard. We will be moving dad as soon as the month is up. Many other families seem to be leaving as well. Hopefully the parent company will notice and step in with changes so the other residents will get better care.
