I have just been discharged by AHC and I cannot say enough about their entire staff, they are wonderful , the PT OT are the best.  The nursing staff and all the rest are so professional.  The food is great albeit too generous for me.  I had a total knee replacement and feel great, better than I expected.  I am a repeat customer and will return if it is ever necessary.

Advanced Health Care is nothing but a facade!!  It looks lovely but the care is gravely lacking.  I had my mom in there and she was so neglected and treated with a lack of respect!!   She was told to go to the bathroom in her pants so that the techs did not have to bother getting her up to go to the bathroom.   The techs were cruel and inhumane twisting her arms when they moved her and showing a total lack of empathy.  My mom waited for hours to get to the bathroom and also laid in wet bandages for hours.  No one should be treated this way - especially a helpless 85 year old woman.  She was seriously injured in this place due to negligence and lack of safety measures. There is an abhorrent lack of training here!!! The medical staff was grouchy and condescending.   When I was able to visit prior to Covid 19, I witnessed a resident who had fallen out of bed and was screaming for help and no one was coming.  I had to find help for this person.  My mother is no longer here (thank god).  I don't usually write reviews but I think the public should know about the atrocities that take place in Advanced Health Care.  If I could have, I would have given this place a zero rating.  Do not send your loved one here!

I write this review not with malice but with sadness and frustration. After my Grandma had a stroke she was sent to Advanced Healthcare in Albuquerque and it was a devastating experience for her and everyone who loves and cares about her. The techs were not trained well or consistently. If your family member needs assistance to use the restroom--Good luck! It would usually take hours (yes, plural) for my Grandma to get help and was often told to just "Go in her diaper", stripping her of her dignity. She was cognitively competent and lucid but she wasn't able to walk on her own and was left at the staff's mercy. The worst part however was my Grandma was dropped in the shower by a tech and it shattered her ankle. The tech denied it at the time and the staff tried to downplay the incident and injury and her ankle went untreated for days. My family had to advocate strongly just for an X-ray which revealed the break long after. And as I said, my Grandma is still cognitively sharp and told us about it right after she was dropped and in pain. The nurses weren't attentive either--it didn't seem that they cared about the well-being of the patients in their care. Any request or issue regarding my Grandma was met with apathy or irritation by the staff. Finally, the administration obviously sets the environment here. When we brought our concerns up to a particular man in administration (and I'm sure he knows who he is if he reads this), he said he would help us but he didn't follow through with anything he promised. There seemed to be no oversight to anything and he tried to have my Grandma sign forms when there was no other family around. If you care about your family member when they are at their most vulnerable, do NOT send them here. We were very grateful when we were able to get my Grandma out of there and moved to a better facility.

The magnitude of unprofessionalism that I witnessed this past week from this facility was astounding. The "director" of the building was yelling on the phone in his office, with the door open, as if he was sitting in the comfort of his own living room. I can only hope he was speaking with a friend and not an employee! Very disappointing to see such a poor example set by the one who is supposed to be setting an example for all the staff. Later in the week I witnessed their liaison absolutely humiliating his poor shuttle driver in the middle of the hallway. No one deserves to be spoken to in that manner, especially at work AND in public! Absolutely disgusting! I feel very sorry for all the staff there who get treated so poorly and have to work under such sad excuses for management.

I just brought my wife home after a three week stay recuperating from surgery for a broken hip. I had visited her a number of times while she was there, ate the food, spoke with all sorts of staff members and in general, got to see first hand what was going on. This wasn't the first time my wife was in an after hospital care facility so I do have some prior knowledge and experience with them. This place is as good as you'll find in Albuquerque or Santa Fe and I can't recommend it highly enough. The nursing staff cares and knows what's going on, the therapists are good and attentive to each patients needs, the facility is immaculately clean and kept that way continuously, the food service is top notch with well thought out menus tailored to individual patient needs. The meals are good, well presented and nutritious. Housekeeping takes care to do a good job with everything from room cleaning to laundry. I was able to relax and not worry while my wife was there. Conversations with key staff members were always cordial and informative. My wife got the care she needed and came home happy and relaxed. Everything from her daily medications to clothing care was taken care of and I saw nothing but caring people working there. Her discharge date was known well in advance and details of her at home care were well presented. She's happy to be home but never complained about her stay at Advanced, as a matter of fact, several of the staff were genuinely sorry to see her leave. In my opinion, this is the best facility of its kind in central New Mexico and deserves a look if post hospital care is needed. I don't think you could do better. By the way, in addition to her hip fracture, my wife also suffers from dementia, requiring some special care and attention.

My mother used Advanced Health Care at the recommendation of her doctor.  Mom had fallen this Christmas breaking her hip and she was not in the best shape after suffering multiple strokes three years ago.  As my mother is notoriously not cooperative with therapist and knowing the statistics of recovery from hip fracture at her age, we were not optimistic about  recovery.  Especially since she had not stood once at Lovelace Hospital.  So when my mother started walking again we really excited.   Between Advanced and Armada, my elderly disabled mother is taking Uber to the Senior Center to see her friends on her own.  The nurse was a grumpy old "battle axe," but mom really liked all the therapist.  She actually looked forward to therapy. In short, they were awesome.

This is a place with the BEST therapists (physical AND occupational). They make sure the patients move from what brought the patients to the facility to where they are going next. The nurses, staff, and techs are pretty responsive to communication and requests. They also appreciate knowing what your family member/friend wants/likes/prefers. Are they perfect? Not quite. Though, I've found them to be responsive when you approach them with 'would like to talk about fixing a problem, not fixing blame.' And have seen evidence of their improvements. The food is pretty decent; they offer daily specials and regular dishes (e.g. burgers, spaghetti, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc.).

My mother went here for rehabilitation post knee surgery. We were really excited at first - the place looks like a hotel, but it went downhill from there. An extremely rude woman (blonde, russian accent) came in and plopped down on the bed next to my mom and whipped out a needle (without saying a word) and started to stick it in my mom's arm! I stopped her and asked her what the hell she was doing. She was visibly annoyed that I would dare challenge her and very rudely said it was "required" to do a tb test. I explained that my mom reacted to tb tests and had been advised by a previous physician to never do one again. She slammed the tray with the needles down and argued with me for a good two minutes before storming out of the room. It went on when she refused based on "policy" to take down my mom's primary care doctor information, saying (incorrectly) that she had to use to facility's doctor. This also resulted in a five minute argument with raised voices before she very snottily agreed to write it down. She then demanded that an x-ray machine be brought in to substitute for the tb test. She interrupted my mom while she was in the middle of eating dinner to say that the x-ray was ready and actually again argued with her, trying to get her to stop dinner to go take an x-ray. After staying as late as possible, I finally left. My mom called first thing in the morning saying that she didn't feel safe and wanted to go home. There were people in and out of her room all night, making it impossible to get any sleep. DO NOT BE SUCKED IN BY THE PRETTY DECORATIONS. THE CARE SUCKS!

I've been here for 6 days now and am preparing for discharge home. I am feeling prepared in every way. I was very anxious abut coming here after a big surgery. Being a retired nurse of 48 years I wasn't ready to be on the "other side." I have learned so much from both OT and PT and speech therapy that I will use for the rest of my life. The nurses and CNA's are amazing. All the staff work well with one another. All the rooms are private and beautiful decor. Have refrigerator and microwave. Beautiful cabinetry. I feel like I'm in a hotel with all the accouterments available to aid in myt recovery. The building and grounds are beautiful. Just wish COVID restrictions weren't in place so I could enjoy more but I appreciate administration keeping our safety in mind. Thank you so much for helping me in my recovery and making my stay such a positive experience.Sarah the Assistant DON is the bomb. She helped me on my admission along with my daughter. She visited me occasionally and brighten my spirits every time. Made me laugh!I know I have forgotten names so I hope you'll forgive me. Carol, speech therapist, Lea PT, and Susan OT helped me and taught me things I'll use the rest of my life. Not just in my recovery. Nurses Pat and Jim just simply ROCK! They are wonderful as is nurse Kat who admitted me. She connected with me immediately as I'm sure she does with every patient. Of course I can't forget nurse Sidney, she was absolutely terrific. Took such great care of me and my daughter who will be helping me at home. Ancillary departments were wonderful. Housekeeping and all the CNAs keep the rooms and everywhere sparkling.I can't say enough about the food. All of it was so delicious! I have a thing with eggs (poached in particular) and refuse to attempt to make them myself and have never found anyone who can make one. They consistently make the "perfect" poached egg. Best I've eaten in my long lifetime. I ordered them every morning. The kitchen slips onto to your tray if diet appropriate a dessert that is homemade as everything else. I loved these little treats. The CNAs helped me the most especially at night and days. I wish I could remember names better. The maintenance and transport drivers Silver and Marcell are so personable! If I ever have a need for services like these again I'd wait as long as I possibly could just to get a bed here. I can't forget Brook PA-C who visited me several times throughout my stay to make sure I was getting all of the the medications and treatments I need during my stay and after discharge. Thank you again one and all (named and unnamed) for everything you do. To Administration kudos for hiring all the right people.

Worst experience I’ve ever encountered. My grandmother was placed here after her surgery, her nurses were completely abusive physically. They were rude, they wouldn’t change her for days at a time, and they grabbed and bruised her arm very bad. Once my family and I talked to the nurse manager 3 times and we were promised she would get a new nursing staff it got even worse! They didn’t feed her, change her, let her shower or anything. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE if you care about them.

I have had a family member stay at this facility multiple times. I highly encourage you to do your research before choosing to have your loved one stay at this facility. Please do not be fooled by ill fitting suits and the pretty decor. The care your loved one will receive here is NO different than any other Genesis or Avamere facility in ABQ. There are great therapists at EVERY facility and I truly hope you do some good research prior to selecting this establishment. Unless you are able to stand on your own and do most of the work yourself you can expect to be blatantly ignored by the staff walking by. If you become too "needy" they will shut your door and "accidentally" put the call bell where you are unable to reach it. Don't bother bringing your complaints to the administrator either! Their reputation must proceed them in the nursing field as the competent and skilled nurses that once worked there have all moved on to better facilities and now they employ anyone with a license! For some good reading on this "5 Star" (HA) facility NM in Depth has some insightful information on this facility and its "leaders".

I entered barely able to walk and very unstable. I walked out on my own 2 weeks later. The PT an OT professionals are first rate. The nurses and CNAs are on medications and care areas day and night. They pitch in and help each other always collaborating. A marvelous work culture. Each person knows what do and does it daily. A word about the food. It is well prepared and tasty. Hard to do in an institution. Rooms are private, good clean bathrooms and safe shower. It is the best of the best.
