I am writing to inform the public of the horrible conditions at a local Skilled Nursing Facility. The place is called Accordius Health Asheville on Beaverdam Road in North Asheville. I wish to remain anonymous because I fear for my safety.  I was hospitalized at Mission on January 18th 2021 for four weeks because of Pneumonia and a Skin infection. I couldn't hardly breathe and I had a high fever. i was intubated and placed on my stomach. During that my left arm fell asleep. When I came out of sedation I couldn't move my arm. I was on a ventilator in the ICU for almost two weeks. Once my breathing hot better, the ventilator was removed then I was moved to another floor for another two weeks. I was discharged from the hospital on February 15th 2021.  The evening I went home, my raised drop arm toilet seat popped off and I landed on the floor and laid there for 15 hours until a Home Health Nurse came to my home to check on me. The fire department had to break in to get to me. I went back to the hospital where i was in observation for a week. While in the hospital, I had begun to have nightmares and anxiety of not being able to get help when I needed it. I went to Accordius Health Asheville on Beaverdam Road Asheville NC to get Physical and Occupational therapy.  Prior to being admitted, I was told that I would get Skilled Nursing and Therapy I needed to return home within a couple weeks. I was forced to stay in bed for days waiting for the therapists to find a wheelchair I could push myself around in. There was a huge lack of communication among the staff. The therapists told me they couldn't see me because they didn't know if the service was going to be paid for by my insurance.  When I knew it had been approved.  Then I didn't have any clothes to wear to get up in a wheelchair to do therapy.  Most days I wasn't able to get out of bed.  The staff told me the lifts were broke or they couldn't find a sling for the lift. I was forced to lay in urine or feces because the CNA didn't clean me properly or change to linen. The CNAs didn't gives baths as needed. They left me on bedpans for  long periods of time which caused me to panic and have high blood pressure. The CNA came in and said it's not my fault nobody would answer your call light. I had asked the Nurse to unplug my cell phone so I could call a family member. She ssid "Look here we are not going to keep coming in here everytime you want to text your sister. " I tried to tell her I didn't need her to plug it back up because it was charged enough for the night. The staff treated me like I couldn't ask for help or it bothered them to do their job. On April 1st 2021,  The CNA put me in an oversized sling which caused me to almost slide out onto the floor over the bed. I told the CNA that it was way  too big and I could use a smaller size and she got rude and told me I couldn't use a smaller size.  I have a Steel Rod in my back from Scoliosis. The Staff treated me as if I was mentally challenged.  I am physically disabled not mentally. i have been to other places to do therapy in the past so I know what works and what will help my progress. I have Muscular Dystrophy Central Core Myopathy.  I couldn't tell anyone at the Facility how I was being treated.  When I complained, the Staff treated me worse. I witnessed other patients being neglected. While I was there, District Officials came in for meetings and the Facility had more people working and had more patients in wheelchairs moving around.  I eventually demanded they discharge me so I could go home and get better. They weren't helping me like they were supposed to. The Staff that was supposed to help made things worse. Someone needs to bring attention to this place before someone dies!Sincerely,Traumatized

My room was full of flies and other insects "Constantly" discusting and annoying. I had to eat in my room due to my injury. And my complaining just fell on deaf ears. Nothing was everdone about it. I had to get my insurance company involved to get me out of that place. They left my dirty bedside commode in my room all day with out cleaning it. That only drew more flies. I had to eat my meals In the room while staring at the dirty commode. I've never felt more humiliated in my lifetime. A terrible experience. Even the Director of nursing refused to get involved .

I have and continue to be well cared for by all the loving and hard working staff. I'm a patient here for Rehabilitation Services. The PT and OT staff are absolutely wonderful. When I arrived here in March 2021, I couldn't walk. They now have me walking again. I am forever grateful for all that has been accomplished during my stay thus far. I still have a little ways to go but I'm confident I will be able to go home soon.Thank you to all the staff who have cheered me on to work hard in achieving my goals.
