Overview of Our Staff and Training
We have LVNs, caregivers, and medication technicians providing care for our residents. Sunrise requires monthly trainings for all staff on topics such as Validation therapy, first aid, CPR, Dementia training, and how to protect resident rights, among others.
Safety and Well-being Measures
Staff is onsite 24/7, with all main doors locked and access controlled by our concierge. Visitors must sign in, and we have video surveillance at all entrances. Residents are provided with emergency pendants and have access to emergency pull cords in every apartment and bathroom.
Resources for Transitioning Residents
We offer a monthly support group for families, a welcome packet with a staff directory, and a welcome ambassador to tour new residents. Department heads visit new residents within the first 15 days to welcome them personally.
Transportation Services
Doctor transportation is available every Wednesday from 9-4 pm, and we organize weekly restaurant outings.
Dining Experience
Dining hours are set for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a variety of options including a soup/salad, main entrée, dessert, and an always available option.

Complaints are addressed by setting up a meeting with the Executive Director, who may involve the relevant department head to resolve the issue.

We offer 30-day respite stays at $300 per day, all-inclusive.

We are a pet-friendly community for residents who can care for their pets. We have openings in assisted living but are full in memory care.

Unfortunately, Sunrise La Costa has totally gone downhill in every way. Under new management, the facility has continued to decline in the past year. Current issues include poor leadership, lack of communication to families regarding their loved one, unskilled staff, poor care giving, less activities, and to top it off, an uncontrolled scabies outbreak. It is truly a shame because under different leadership a couple of years ago, it was a wonderful place. After the administrator Wes Lavender left, Sunrise La Costa has been on a continual decline. We couldn't move out our mother fast enough. The one star in this review is for the few remaining dedicated staff members who continue to do their best despite the current circumstances. Look closely at the date on the reviews and you'll notice that things have changed dramatically in the past year. Such a shame.
