General Staff Rating
Care Staff Rating
We recently placed our loved one in this facility. While there it was necessary for them to "lock down" the facility to protect the residents. They were so accommodating and took such loving care of our loved one. We could not have asked for more. The staff went way above and beyond every day to ensure the best care possible. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. ♥
When my mom was readmitted after a short stay in the hospital, I was at first very happy with her room, the people were nice and seemed very attentive. My mom was very sick and in late stages of COPD and congestive heart failure, we knew she was close to the end of her life. The staff needs to know that was my mom and we expect certain things to happen. Nothing extreme, but here are a few things I would ask staff members to know that this is an upsetting time for people and here are a couple things I feel could have been done better:First, my mom asked for a chef salad, apple juice, and cocoa at about 9:30 am, instead they brought her a brunt piece of toast and 2 eggs, she did get the apple juice but no cocoa. Someone came in and I again asked for a chef salad, I was there until 4:30 in the afternoon and we never saw a chef salad. She probably wasn't going to eat it, but I wanted her to know we were listening to her, she wasn't dead yet. She also asked me why she had to wear the CPAP mask, I told her I would have a nurse come explain it to her. One of the girls came in and she didn't have a good answer, she said she would find someone who could explain it to her. Again, no one ever came in to tell her why she had to wear this enormous mask that she couldn't put on or get off. My dad asked for them to get her something that would fit her small head better, he was told that it would have to be ok'd by a Dr. and that it might not be covered by insurance. WE DIDN'T CARE HOW MUCH IT COST! All we needed was a child's size mask, not that difficult.Second, someone came in to change out her oxygen tank, during that time she had to go on a portable oxygen tank. It wasn't powerful enough and didn't deliver enough oxygen and she fell unconscious, I was yelling for someone to come help me, I told the nurse my mom was going to die, she said she wasn't going to die and finally got another oxygen tank put in her room. There was definitely not a sense of urgency. The woman across the hall from my mom was yelling for someone to help her, it was a good few minutes before someone came to her aid. Finally, once my mother had passed away, I received a call, they asked me what funeral home would be taking care of her body. I did not know the answer to that question, my father would have to give them that information. 40 minutes later they called and asked me again which mortuary they should call. We asked for a chef salad and never got it, we asked for a smaller CPAP mask and never got it. This was my mom and my dad's wife, please know that we feel really guilty for leaving her at SkyRidge for her end of life care.
