Our Team at Shurmer Place
Shurmer Place employs a diverse team of professionals to cater to the needs of our residents. Our team includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Resident Companions, State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNAs), activity professionals, licensed beauticians, dietary aides, a licensed dietician, a maintenance department, and a licensed driver.
Training and Certifications
We provide monthly regulatory in-services, fire training, and First Aid training. I am proud to serve as the Resident Director of the facility, holding an MBA, certification as a Dementia Practitioner, STNA certification, and Activity Director Certification through NCCAP.
Safety and Orientation
All residents are provided with an emergency call button to wear, in addition to stationary emergency call buttons in their apartments. An orientation is given upon arrival and continues throughout the first few weeks, with nursing and the activity department playing a significant role in acclimating residents to the campus.
Transportation and Dining
Transportation services are available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We offer restaurant-style dining with several options to choose from. Room service is also available upon request for a fee.
Resident Concerns and Family Communication
Resident complaints are addressed through the resident council or the grievance committee. We ensure families are kept informed about any changes or concerns, with nursing providing regular updates on care and condition. Campus-related updates are communicated via email.
Additional Services
Respite care is available; please refer to the attached pricing sheet for more information. Pets are permitted, provided residents can care for them independently. Vaccines are offered on campus to ensure the health and safety of our community.
Life Plan Community
At Altenheim and Shurmer Place, we are a life plan community that promotes aging in place. Please note that we currently have a waitlist for new residents.
