Seashore Highlands Retirement Community Description
Methodist Senior Services is proud of its 50 year-old tradition of providing housing and services to older adults in Mississippi. It has one mission: to serve older adults in the spirit of Christian love. Our 900 plus employees and 1,600 volunteers make that mission their prime focus. Today, MSS serves more than 1,800 elders in our 12 independent living, assisted living, personal care and skilled nursing care retirement communities, with campuses that range from almost the Tennessee line to the Gulf of Mexico.
And while Seashore Highlands is a new name, MSS is no stranger to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Since 1984, Methodist Senior Services has sought to serve the Gulf Coast region and her elders through services such as Seashore: Gulf Oaks, opened in July of 1984, and Seashore Personal Care, opened in November of 1994.
In August of 2005, the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina forced MSS to reevaluate the property and services it would continue to provide on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Thus was born the vision of a new retirement community, Seashore Highlands, which would be located further inland and would expand on MSS’ desire to provide additional senior living options for the elders of the region.
The new Seashore Highlands Campus is a work of art and will make senior living a dream come true. While Methodist Senior Services has worked hard to provide quality, affordable housing, the campus designers have worked just as hard to incorporate the amenities and styles that are reflective of Coastal living. Equipped with modern conveniences throughout the campus, Seashore Highlands will be a home unlike any other. We invite you today to see the difference for yourself and you’ll see why we think Seashore Highlands is... Where retirement living becomes an art form

Review Summary
The following is an AI generated summary of the reviews of the community from across the web.
Seashore Highlands receives a mix of reviews, highlighting both its strengths and areas for improvement. Many reviewers praise the facility for its caring and professional staff, beautiful environment, and the high quality of care provided. The Director, Michelle Daniels, is specifically mentioned for her loving, kind, and responsive nature. The facility offers a range of options including Independent, Assisted, and Memory Support living, with special mention of the unique and beautiful Greenhouse for Memory Care.
One touching account details the extraordinary care and kindness shown to a resident in their last days, including a staffer who went above and beyond by cutting and praying over the resident after her shift. This level of personal attention and genuine care seems to be a common theme among positive reviews.
However, there are concerns raised about the staffing levels and organization of the facility. One review from a family member of a resident in the Memory Care unit points out that the staff-to-resident ratio, while meeting state standards, leaves staff with little time to engage with residents due to their additional responsibilities of cooking, cleaning, and laundry. This review also notes a lack of attentiveness from management to concerns raised and minimal activities for residents. Another review criticizes the facility for being unorganized and understaffed, suggesting that this impacts the level of care provided and indicates a prioritization of profit over understanding and meeting client needs.
Despite these criticisms, the overall sentiment is positive, with many reviewers highly recommending Seashore Highlands for its loving atmosphere, laughter, happiness, and the sense of home it provides to its residents.
