It is so difficult to know how to rate Rocky Mountain on Vine. My 97 year old father was for there for 24 hours for rehab after hip replacement. The building is grim - tiny rooms with two people per room and beds placed so it felt like he was in a closet. Worn out furniture and, in my father's case a light with a broken cord he couldn't reach. His roommate was a young man who watched tv at a high volume all night (I was told there are no quiet hours). The whole facility felt crowded and VERY worn out. On the other hand, the director, Mitchel Squires, met us at the door and asked us to contact him if there was anything we needed. The nurses and aides were attentive and personable but they were all agency staff so didn't always know how to resolve problems. They did go out of there way to try to meet our needs but the overall feeling was too chaotic and strange for him, or us, to tolerate. We moved him home and are paying for PT privately.
My mom, Marie, has only been there for a couple of months but I must say that I am beyond pleased with the care she is receiving. The social worker, Pam, is a dream. She goes above and beyond and really took time to talk to and get to know my mom as a person. She is sincere and genuine and really cares for the residents there. Everyone there is exceptional and kind. Most importantly my mom is happy and tells me how kind they are to her. Being her daughter this is such a relief for me knowing she is in good hands when I can't be with her. Thank you all for taking such good care of my beloved mom.
My mother died here. As soon as she was put here, she became non-verbal and died within a couple of weeks. She was slowly dying of motility/basically starving. They had no plan at all for this and whenever I found food in her room, there wasn’t even a spoon or a way to eat it.Throughout the experience we found small details curious. Our mother collapsed and stopped breathing for a minute and we were horrified. The staff had told us “This happened the other day too” but never bothered to tell any family. They were so worried when this happened because they had forgotten to ask family if we had wanted a DNR (that’s what they were worried about). Our mother died & we did not really see it coming. There was no update of health & I don’t think they really tried to feed her at all. They said they were “thinking about a feeding tube” but nothing. No updates, No dietician - nothing. No communication. Do they not take vitals? Do any kind of check up rounds on their residents? I highly, highly doubt it.She died alone that day and it truly makes me wonder how long she was there before they even noticed. When she passed & we were grieving in the room, they came to ask us 3-4 times if we were done or if we still wanted privacy. This place needs to be investigated and reviewed by someone. I’ve worked in these types of places & I really know how awful they can be. The intermountain nurses & hospice were also the worst I’ve ever seen. What a whole lot of money for absolutely no “care”.
If there was a letter score, I would give this place an "F"' Most of the CNA's were helpful but they were so overworked that they could provide the care, they wished to. I was there for one week and never got a shower, the doctor never looked at my two incisions and I came out worse than I went in and I had two bedsores that were bleeding all over the bedside commode. They only had one bedside commode and it was totally inadequate I'm 5"8' and I left at 100 lbs..so feeding was inadequate as well. The TV had no headset option so I had to turn the volume up to get any speaking program so it was louder in the Jack and Jill room than it was for me. Overall. it was a dismal experience. The social worker did the best she could. The dieticians had nothing to work with, my friend had to bring me protein drinks and I had to bring my own medicine for the growing bedsores.
I absolutely loved working there. The residents are what make a nursing facility amazing and the residents were great to work with. The other CNAs are very good at their job, I’ve worked at places where the CNAs did not seem to care for their residents but that’s not the case at RMC. The CNAs love their residents and treat them with respect. I’d definitely recommend this location of RMC to any CNAs looking for a job or anyone seeking long term care.
This facility really puts a new perspective on where I woukd take my loved ones. It doesn't deserve any stars! I'm truly disgusted at the staff and the director's! The Doctor and her RN need a new job! They are never their, nor do they see their patients. I find it funny how all the comments seem to say it's clean and smells nice! It's obvious someone other than a real human that has a loved one their would think it's clean or smells nice. It's disgusting! The rooms are tiny and 2 people to each room that connects to another room with 2 people so 4 people share the same bathroom and shower with a shower chair that they all share. My daughter was their 11 days before getting her linens changed and guess who did it ? Me the mom. Medicare and Medicaid needs to get in their and look at how dirty and the staff is never the same because they hire temps so you hardly ever get to see or get any good communication between anyone. I saw old folks wheeling down the hall and they had dementia and were ignored all the time. It broke my heart to see folks their who couldn't communicate the issues their. I would never take or refer anyone here! It's sad that they bill Medicaid 6800 a month for such poor service! I made sure to take notes on every conversation with staff and beware of meds going missing or not given correctly. I am at a loss of words for folks that have no other choice for places like this when it's the government paying . I now know that I wouldn't send my dog their to be cared for . I was not in the position to care for my loved one 24/7 due to my owm health but after the headache and stress this place caused me because I had to be up their constantly once I realized they have no conern or compassion for anyone. When you first walk in it looks okay but walk around or go into the kitchen and watch how they ignore patients and that their are no set times you can walk in any time day or night and they dont stop to see who you are or who your their to see . they have a sign in book but nobody follows that. And no cameras to see who comes and goes . just beware that's all I have to say
I have tried since the end of October when a friend was discharged to get help with disability. I spoke with Pam prior to her discharge to ask for her assistance with the process. She said she would get the information needed. I called and followed up within 2 weeks, she stated she was really busy and would get the information and get back with me. I didn’t hear from her and called back, I have yet to get any information. Isn’t this what a social worker does?? Apparently not this one!
Last week I visited my grandfather at cottage on Vine for their thanksgiving dinner. It was so nice to see the joy and happiness on his face as he interacted with his friends that live there as well. I could tell when visiting how much time and effort the staff put into this dinner to make it special for the people that live there and their families. What a nice place to put your grandmother, grandfather, or any of your loved ones.
Do NOT place your family member here! Our grandma has been here for a few years and at first it wasn't too bad but over the last 6 months or so! They do not follow Drs orders they are supposed to crush her medication so she refuses to take it and we find it in her drawers. They never make sure she is clean and she lays in poop and pee until we come daily to change her! We put her there bc my mother in laws could no longer take care of her! They gave her someone else's medication for 4 days and almost killed her and didn't seem to even care! They never do activities with them except bingo and the occasional party and don't even come and get her to eat or anything!! So much more wrong at this facility so just don't place your loved one here!
