UPDATE: things didn’t work out with Petersen Farms. They weren’t able to take care of my grandpa’s catheter. We talked with Admin many times and their solution was to send a YouTube video out to the aides. As far as I’m aware, there wasn’t any test of knowledge or verification the sides actually watched it. Several times my grandpa woke up soaking wet in urine. Humiliating and devastating for a proud man who has no memory problems. Also the showers weren’t very thorough. We tried so hard to make it work - I’ll leave out the details. The last straw was when Admin said she would email another video out to the aides after an overnight catheter fail. I think the biggest problem might be the same no matter where you go, but they didn’t have a large enough pool to spread the weaknesses of new employees and turnover out over the experienced employees or a larger group of aides.A member of our family was there at least twice daily to help with things the aides didn’t help with such as adjusting tv, visiting, get this, get that, etc. because we were there, we heard of and saw medication slip-ups with grandpas meds as well. Dosing inconsistencies, wrong meds to the wrong person, leaving a pill out, etc.The aides take care of the residents not just with personal care but also housekeeping and laundry. They have a tough job - we definitely had our favorites as did the grandparents. If your loved one has special needs, make sure the staff is qualified to take care of that special need. If it’s a catheter, don’t go there at all.ORIGINAL POST:Just moved grandparents a week ago. So far, I have nothing but rave reviews for them - my siblings as well. The "high schoolers" as another reviewer referred to have been the sweetest and kindest caregivers to my grandparents. My favorite thing they do is telling them "good night, I love you" before they go to sleep. My grandparents say the food is good and the staff have taken great care of them.
We moved my grandmother into Petersen farms back in winter of 2019 due to a sudden and severe onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Myself and my family have nothing but good things to say about this facility and it’s staff. They treated my grandma with absolute compassion and kindness, and provided her with a top tier level of care. Every time we went to visit, the staff was always friendly and very attentive, but most importantly grandma was always clean and happy. Her room was always well kept and clean as well. They were great about notifying us when she was in need of anything. As someone with 7 years of experience working in geriatric care, there were two major things that stood out to me most about this facility. One: the demeanor of the staff. They were always in a positive mood, pleasant, very proactive about assisting my family and the residents in any way they could. Not to mention extremely compassionate to us and the residents, particularly during and after my grandmas death. The second thing that stood out was how clean and well kept the facility always was, as well as the quality of work that was put into the construction and finishing of the building itself. The common areas and the rooms were ALWAYS clean. Nearly spotless. Never once did I go in there and experience a bad smell or sight.I worked in an assisted living facility as a maintenance technician for several years. I have seen all the good and bad that can come with geriatric care, and dealt with both personally during my career. I can honestly say that this facility was a 100% positive experience for my family and my grandma, which is absolutely not the case with all assisted living homes. My family wants to personally thank Petersen farms and its staff for the care our loved one received there, and would recommend this facility to anyone looking to move their loved one into an assisted living home.
Residents here are EXTREMELY neglected. Any form of neglect is NOT acceptable. Period. Very unprofessional building full of incompetent highschoolers who don’t even have the correct training to perform safely. Residents have been double dosed, left without showers for weeks, and that’s not even the beginning of it. I HIGHLY recommend not to even consider this place. Nothing but a joke. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE RESIDENTS!!!!
My father is here and getting great care. The staff are very helpful and friendly every time we are here. The rates are the best we could find. Dad loves his room and he feels very well fed all the time. He says he feels well and he looks better since he has been here. Our family has loved having him here.
This is the place to bring your loved one when it’s time for assisted living. Brent is absolutely amazing as is the entire staff! The care and attention they gave to me and my family thru a particularly trying time made us feel like we were family. They care about each resident and strive to make it just like home for each one of them. The food is fantastic and the attention shown by the CNA’s was of the highest quality. I give them my absolutely highest recommendation!
