Do you guys currently have a waitlist?

We do have waiting lists for each area of our building. The only thing available at this time is a one bedroom apartment. Our wait time is probably 2-4 weeks, depending upon the area of the building.

Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?

We employ seven full time RNs and LPNs. The building is staffed 24 hours/day with CNAs and Medication Aides. We have on the job training for all staff which includes several hours of training prior to beginning their work on the floor. Training is ongoing for all staff throughout their employment here.

Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?

We use a Tempo system for residents. It is similar to an Apple Watch and movements in the apartment and in public areas can be monitored in regard to falls and wellness checks. Staff can interact with residents through this system, as well. We are also able to track response times from staff. Doors are all locked at 5 pm but residents are able to come and go as they please.

Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?

Our resident ambassador helps with this, along with the staff, Licensed Social Worker, RN, and other residents. Family support is also very important.

Do you offer transportation services for residents?

Our community has a handicapped accessible bus and a van to provide transportation Monday – Friday for residents at no extra cost.

Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?

All meals are served in our dining rooms. Room service is available at an extra cost but is provided at no cost for residents who are ill and choose to stay in their apartment. Lunch and supper consist of two entrée choices and begin with a soup or salad. Meals are served restaurant style. Residents do have assigned seating and we work very hard to ensure they are enjoying their table mates and the dining services.

What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?

There is a formal grievance policy in place and residents are encouraged to voice any concerns, complaints, or other issues. Residents at Edgewood take a lot of ownership in the building and most have no problem with coming to management with complaints. We aren’t able to improve anything if we aren’t aware of it. Families are encouraged to do the same.

What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?

We have quarterly care plans which are not required in North Dakota. Families are involved in that process. Each resident also has an RN Manager who will maintain communication with the family with any concerns. Otherwise, families are not normally contacted unless there is something out of the ordinary happening with the resident.

Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?

Yes. Price is based on the services needed and varies.

Are you all a pet-friendly community?

Yes

Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?

Yes

Are residents able to age in place?

That is our goal. Edgewood has its own Home Health and Hospice Program, as well as providing outpatient therapy such as physical, occupational and speech therapy. We also employ a full time Family Nurse Practitioner who will see residents in their apartments rather than having to go to the clinic. Lab services are also available within the building.
