Overview of McKendree Services and Facilities
I can’t speak for every department and the training they undergo. Everyone is trained for their position here at McKendree, and caring for the residents is the number one goal for all staff. Are you wanting a list of all positions here at McKendree? We do have Nurse Practitioners that we offer in the Independent and Assisted living. Our Independent living consists of their own apartments, and Assisted living has an Administrator who runs the building with 24hr care from Nurses and CNA’s.
Security and Maintenance
Both buildings have maintenance that scans the property 24/7, and we lock our doors after a certain time. At that point, residents have to be buzzed in.
Support Services for Residents
For Independent Living, we have a connector coordinator who helps all new residents, a Homemaker that does an orientation with them, and an activity director that tries to help them socialize.
For Assisted Living (AL) – they have the help of the nurses, CNA’s, and an activity team that helps them navigate their building.
Transportation and Outings
We do have transportation to stores that are close by, trips to the bank, and outings for the residents. If it is for doctors’ appointments, they will charge for the month or by appointment.
Dining Experience
For independent living, it's a restaurant style. They wait to be seated and the waitress will take their order.
For AL, they will go to the dining room and have a seat in the assigned seat. It is sort of like a restaurant style too, except they fill out their menu for the next day. So they have a seat and the waitress brings out their drinks and their food.
Handling Resident Concerns
For independent living – usually, it starts with them starting with the front desk attendant and if they can’t help they go to who they think can best help the situation. Depending on what it is for-Ex. If it is a maintenance concerns, we would send it to the staff member here at that time. Or if it has to do with their monthly invoice we would send them to the business office.
For AL – it is a little different since they have someone that is directly over their building the Administrator usually gets all the concerns or issues if her staff can’t help the situation any longer.
If both can’t be solved with the help of the staff at hand it will get taken to our Executive director.
Cost of Living and Emergency Contacts
So, for both buildings if there are ongoing issues or medical reasons we keep emergency contact numbers for easy access. Independent living – is more if they go out to the hospital or if the family member has a special request. Assisted living most of concerns about the resident go to the family member.
Respite Stays and Pet Policy
Assisted living does offer respite stays and it's $150 per day.
We are pet friendly for visitors throughout the whole campus if we have shot records. The only place you can have pets are in the Independent living. (There is a pet deposit and monthly fee)
Availability and Vaccinations
Right now I have availability in both Independent and Assisted living.
We do offer shot vaccine, when it is time they usually do a sign-up sheet in Independent living. Assisted living goes to the residents or calls family member.
Aging in Place
Residents can age in place here and I believe that is the best part of McKendree.
If you have any other questions just let me know and I look forward to hearing from you. Have a wonderful day.
