Physical therapy the highlight. Food average but run out of things daily such as lettuce, bacon, raisins etc. if it's quiet you crave don't plan on it here. The staff is loud rude and obnoxious in the hallway but 80% decent in tending to patient needs. The other 20% are basically useless.
My mother was here for short-term rehabilitation after gall bladder surgery from February 13 to March 7, 2019. We found the staff to be dedicated, hard working, and professional. There were frustrations - meals were sometimes a bit late and did not always bring what was ordered - but Mom quickly went from bedridden to walking a few feet on a walker to walking the length of the building. When she came home, we were confident she was ready to live alone again. I'd definitely recommend it if your family member needs rehabilitation after surgery.
I would like to thank the staff at Lord Chamberlain for the adorable Halloween party they had tonight for the children. My daughter is a CNA there and my mom and I brought our grandson, her great grandson to the celebration. The staff was very friendly, the residents were very sweet and loved seeing the children. The nursing home was very clean and smelled wonderful. Thank you again!!!
Not all it's reputed to be. You really have to stay on top of things for your family member. My father went in for short term rehab, specifically for pulmonary rehab. The respiratory therapist saw him twice then went on vacation. They only have one respiratory therapist at the facility. There were several medical errors made. I fortunately have a background in medicine so I know what to ask and what to look for but if I didn't, there could have been some bad outcomes. The physical therapists/occupational therapists are hard working, dedicated and thorough. The nursing staff is pleasant but the reported ratio of 14 patients to each nurse is untrue. It's more like 19 or 20 to 1. It's probably still better than most places, but don't be dazzled by the fancy decor.
My mom is 92 and came from the hospital where she was a patient for 3 weeks. She was bedridden for the majority of her time and was weak. She spent 18 days at LC for short term rehab on the recommendation of her doctor. It was the best decision we could have made. The rehab therapists had my mom up and moving right away and in short order she was moving better than she had in months. This is a well run facility, the therapists, nurses and aides work in unison, there is no miscommunication. I appreciate the care and consideration shown to my mom, I was there ten hours a day so I saw the consistency with every member of the staff. There is an amazing recreational director who is unfailingly cheerful and has an activity every day. She creates a fun atmosphere that is invaluable to recovery. Tea service, root beer floats, bingo, there was always something for them.
Today is Christmas day, and my husband and sister in law waited over one hour for someone to help their mom use the bathroom. She ended up dirty in a diaper, and when my husband left, still no one came to help or clean her. She is in her late 90s, and it shouldn't be too much to ask that she be treated with more respect and care. I wish we could take her home, but we don't have the supposed skill that the staff should have. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WAY SHE IS BEING TREATED.
Highly recommended!!! My mother has been a permanent resident since 2016. She is healthier than she’s been in years. She’s happy. She loves her nurses & aides. Now, during this Covid-19 crisis, I receive a weekly overall wellness call from nursing & also 2 FaceTime calls for virtual visits with mom!! They go above & beyond. A very caring environment!!
If you have a loved one who requires care of any kind, I highly recommend Lord Chamberlain. There are so many obstacles in healthcare in this day and age. And Lord Chamberlain goes above and beyond and exceeds them all. A caring, loving staff that provides professional and very personal care. I have never in my life seen such a dedicated and passionate CEO as I have in Martin. The man is full of passion and energy and never stops trying to improve the quality of care while defending his patients rights. Lord Chamberlain has a very dedicated staff and so many have been working there for years. Just a great working environment and culture. 5 stars for sure.
Awful care, don’t listen to the patient. Doctor there didn’t provide the correct care I required and if I didn’t leave on my own back to the hospital when I did I would have died. Therapy gym was a joke. Room too small and they just kept piling people in and therapists weren’t working with just one patient at a time. Nurses and aides were very rude.
Services were adequate but there was very poor communication with families. We felt disrespected when our 93 year old mother was discharged with no advance discussion or notice. Phone calls were not returned. We had much better communication from other facilities in the state.
Overall, I did like it and would recommend Lord Chamberlain to other people. But there were many times that there was a strong urine smell because the patients werent being changed often enough. I tired to have an air freshner in my moms room at all times. For what they charge you, they should of had more staff on hand.
My mom and I were visiting Ct for a weekend, she fell, shattered her left shoulder ( surgery , total replacement ) fractured her right femur(surgery , metal plate) brought here from Yale Hospital on Sunday 08/16 being discharged Tuesday 09/22 , we couldn't ask for a better place for rehab, the facility is beautiful and the staff is the most dedicated, friendly, professional crew you could ask for. It made being away from home easy (were from Maine).thanks to a bunch of wonderful people , we will miss you.The impact you have made on our lives will be remembered forever❤️
Excellent care provided. Would highly recommend Lord Chamberlain to others. My mom was at Lord Chamberlain for 15 months. We chose it for the nursing staff, the aides and the cleanliness. You don’t feel that you’re walking into a convalescent home. The place is just phenomenal. They provided excellent care, they were very caring and they were sympathetic. They really listen to the family needs too. They really get the people involved and they get them up and out of bed. Her room is cheery so that helps. They do Bingo, they have people come in and sing. They bring in church services and make sure that they do special things on holidays. My mother enjoyed her meals that were provided.
