Lifecare of Collegedale terribly neglected my 94 year old mother in law. They knew she could not feed herself and she almost starved to death. Lifecare of Ooltewah neglected my mother. When we arrived I was sure mom had a uti. I could tell by the way she acted. I told the nurse to please do a urinalysis. She said she would. Two days went by and I asked the nurse the results. I was told they had not done it. The nurse said she would get right on it. Seven days later it was still not done. By this time my mother didn’t even know who I was. And that’s not all. Mom became impacted. I told the nurse she was unable to go to the bathroom and requested they give her a laxative. Five days later still no laxative or bowel movement. This is gross but I’m going to say it anyway…they ended up having to dig it out of her and it was excruciating for her. It was so difficult for me to stand there and watch my 85 year old mother cry during the procedure. One other thing…mom fell three times while there. The first time she fell out of her wheelchair. They knew she couldn’t walk. That’s why she was there…for rehab. The third time we ended up in the ER because when she fell she busted her head open. This place is pathetic. I went to corporate about the situation and they seemed concerned. However, the next call I received was from the administrator at Ooltewah telling me if I have a problem not to call corporate but to call them directly. In a nutshell, the administrator got in trouble. Enough said??

I truly wish I could give Life Care Of Collegedale more than five stars because that’s how phenomenal my experience has been with this facility from day one with my mom for the last 4 months. The phenomenal experience begins from the time I enter the door with all the friendly receptionist on all shifts including weekends, and the immaculate cleanliness of everything. My amazing experience continues with the Administration, Social Services, Dietary Department, the Rehab Department, Nurses, and CNA’s that all keep me beyond informed and updated about the health and well-being of my Mom. The nursing staff that directly takes care of my Mom on a daily basis on all the shifts are truly angels in disguise walking on this earth. I was recently on the phone with my Mom one evening and 10 minutes into our conversation she was ready to get off the phone with me because she said the nurse was there to tuck her in for the night. I cried after I hung up and thanked God that my sweet Mother is in such a caring place where she is spoiled enough to look forward to being tucked in every night. My mind and heart is at peace when I go to bed every night knowing that my Mom is beyond well taken care of to the point of being literally spoiled LOL. Thank you all for taking such great care of my mom, thank you for the continuous updates, thank you for never letting me feel like I’m bothering anyone if I have a question about my mom‘s well-being and thank you for the prompt callbacks to my messages. And lastly thank you for always updating me when she’s about to run out of something that she needs or would like to have. I feel like I’m part of a wonderful family whenever I walk through the doors of Life Care Of Collegedale and if I feel that way as a daughter just visiting or dropping things off I can only imagine how you all make my mom feel on a daily basis and for that I cannot thank each and everyone of you all enough. And for all those reasons above I give more than 5 stars! Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart and may God continue to bless each and everyone of you for the love and care that you show to everyone under your care.

Nursing homes in general are the worst place to put your loved ones. I will never recommend or say anything ever nice about this facility or any life care. I have had my Mother in three LCC facilities in one year and I can honestly say her care got worse with each move. The second one blatantly neglected and abused her while in their care. Not only did I report them, they are under continuous investigation. The last one here I thought was better but in the end it was the worst. Administrative staff acted like they cared but knew their limits with their incapable nursing staff and not to fail to mention limited staffing because they want to have much profit and an ongoing list of continuous excuses. A smile and a phone call and an impromptu meeting was their answer to everything. Food was always cold and tasted awful each and every time we got to eat with Mom. The west wing she was on had hateful nursing staff, refused to answer calls we made and even their own reception could not get them to return a page for help. The internal staff that were good hearted complained at how pitiful the facility was run even administrative leaders talked about their own ED. No one was on the same page, care to the residents was third rate and not one person who lived there was happy. It doesn’t matter what you say or ask or how you beg, they just don’t care. I seriously doubt that any residents family was ever happy and I heard that continually from other staff members. It is so sad that my Mother had to die in their less than capable hands and if I had been notified while she was getting worse, I would have been able to be with her when she passed away but they didn’t care enough to check on her much less notify me and she died alone and no explanations could be given. On top of these problems, Covid made it impossible to keep a close eye on your family member and the staff hated seeing family’s come, I was even told that by their own staff. Do yourselves a favor and trust my 30 years experience in the medical arena and try every avenue other than this setting if you care what happens to your family member. It will not be a pleasant outcome as long as you complain or expect more, the more they work against you and your loved one. I hope you won’t have the regret I now have for trusting my sweet Mom to people who only care about their bottom line and not good trustworthy health care.

This place is wonderful! Everything - staff, food, experience, is well cared for! I am one of the many students that went here to take the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) class and we had to work with the residents here and the training, just everything was perfect!Really recommend the place!

If I could rate this place with less than a 1 Star then I would.. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL place to put your loved ones. Nurses are rude and passive aggressive towards family and patients. My grandfather is now in the hospital and had to have surgery because they were not diligent when caring for him, they did not let me or my mother know the extent of his issues and when we would go there to check on him and visit they would say he was lying/ that’s there records show different from what he was telling us. (He has dementia so we trusted the nurses that were with him all day) Please don’t put your loved ones here!!! The only good thing about this facility are the physical therapists..
