Employee Reviews for Atlas Senior Living

2.95 out of 5 stars. Based on 19 reviews

Employees of Atlas Senior Living report that the residents are great, but the company is focused on money and not on the well-being of the residents. Pay is low and insurance is expensive. Management is lazy, unprofessional, and money-hungry, and they favor those who suck up to them. Training is minimal and there is poor communication between departments. Staff are overworked and underpaid, and there is a lack of appreciation for their work. Employees enjoy the flexible schedule and their coworkers, but feel that the company needs to step up and focus on the well-being of the residents and staff.

I would HIGHLY recommend Legacy for your loved one. My mom has been there for about 2 years, and she loves it. I love it because I feel like she is loved and well cared for. Every staff member is incredibly kind and patient. It is immaculate and kept clean. The food is fantastic, and they offer choices. The activities they provide are stimulating and entertaining. I truly cannot say enough great things about Legacy.

Parents have been living here since it opened in 2018. They love their apartment, and especially the staff who are the kindest, most pleasant and genuinely caring people we have met. We are very happy that the parents are happy, and very glad that all residents fared well through this pandemic because of the meticulous safety procedures of the GM and the staff. Parents happily want to stay here and have no desire to leave the friends they have made in this tightly knit community.

Michelle at Legacy has been such a huge help and blessing to our family during my Mother in law's transition to Assisted Living. Answers calls and texts even on the weekend. Staff is always friendly when we arrive for visits. Highly recommend this facility!

Legacy has been mom’s home for two years now and we are very grateful. The staff cares about mom and her well being and pays attention to her needs. She has made new friends there among the residents and staff. We are glad she’s being taken care of well.

Both my father and my stepmother now live at Legacy; my Dad in the Assisted Living and my stepmom in the Memory Care. I knew from the moment I walked through the front door that Legacy was ‘the’ place (and I had visited many). I truly can’t say enough about it. The building is beautiful, bright and airy, and exceptionally clean! But a building does not make a home, it is the staff that does. Every single staff member makes it home, makes us their family! The Director, Robert Todd, is a rare man indeed, impeccably professional with a heart full of warmth and grace. The Director of Health & Wellness, Michelle Morgan and the Memory Care Coordinator, Josie Kirchner are nothing short of amazing!!! Their dedication to their jobs is a precious rarity. But it is their genuine warmth, care and concern that continues to astound me! All of the staff has. I truly feel that they are family, I really do, and I am so very grateful. I trust them implicitly. I cannot imagine anywhere else even coming close. Moving my parents out of their long time home was a difficult task, mentally and physically, it was overwhelming. The Legacy staff didn’t just do their job, they came alongside in love, and have not for one moment stopped. Long review short, please, go and see for yourself just how phenomenal Legacy is!!!

My mom literally just moved in here, but I have to say so far things are wonderful. We moved her from a memory care unit in Charleston so I can be closer to her because I am moving here myself. Everyone made the transition very easy for her and have listened to what she is like as a person to help her acclimate in her new surroundings. I think she will be very happy in her new home.

What a wonderful place! This community has it all, from the spacious rooms with modern amenities to the warm and comforting staff. In the courtyard, residents can relax outside under the stars at the fire pit or enjoy their favorite beverage at the outdoor "pub." They seemed to have thought of everything to accommodate assisted senior living with comfort and class.

On the surface, Legacy at Savannah Quarters seemed like a great place for our 89-year-old mother with osteoporosis and dementia. The facility is updated and clean, with an enclosed garden courtyard, and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, things were not as they appeared, and Mom declined drastically during the two months she was an assisted living resident there, going from mobile, alert, and mostly independent to weak, groggy, fearful, painfully thin, and so shaky she could not sit up straight or feed herself. Due to the visitation restrictions and poor communication, it was not clear to us how much she had declined until a fall sent her to the hospital on New Year's Day 2021. A few days later, we switched Mom to in-home care, where she was safe and surrounded by the love of family until she passed away in February. It speaks volumes that five of these positive Google reviews were written by current or recent staff members who did not identify themselves as employees (Biz Austin, Mary Dampier, Penny Jernigan, Terrie Matthews, and Michelle Morgan). The review by Allison Brown is similar to our experience. While the staff was flexible and helpful in some ways, there were problems with visits, security (items taken by another resident), and most importantly, the level of care. No care plan was shared with us, although we discovered it should have been done within 14 days according to Georgia Rule 111-8-63-.17.Due to Legacy's medication mismanagement, Mom developed serotonin syndrome (verified later by her neurologist), fell, and had a mental breakdown during New Year's weekend. Legacy was not equipped to deal with this crisis, apparently had not checked for drug interactions, and did not notify us about the fall until the next day. We were never told that six new meds (some contraindicated) were added to Mom's plan through a standing order, which is not permitted according to Georgia Rule 480-24-.04. When we discovered this in January through a pharmacy bill and contacted Legacy, the Executive Director and the Director of Health blamed Mom's primary care physician and took no responsibility. Mom's physician verified that Legacy did not follow proper procedure with the medications, and our mother suffered greatly as a result. We will always regret entrusting her care to Legacy at Savannah Quarters. We have filed a complaint with the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH), the agency that governs assisted living facilities, in the hope that other Legacy residents will receive proper care. Our loved ones deserve better.

Mom moved into MC about 2yrs ago, this was her 3rd facility and offers so much more at a price we can afford!!Facility: modern, open with wide halls, bright, clean, plenty of room in her suite. Not dark and dreary.Techs: Friendly, helpful, attentive, encouranging and patient. Nice in the wake of a pandemic. Actually had mom in a ponytail..., a first in about 80 yrs.Responsiveness: Great, contacted when something happens, responds to text or emails w/in 24 hrs.Leadership: Receptive, supportive, willing to try various options to make mom happy and as her memory slips we work together more. Address any issues or needs timely. Keeps us posted with status updates.... We have had to trust them to stand in for us during the lockdowns and they have done well.Other: Having a salon and access to therapy and NP onsite is great without having to wait at MD office. Really appreciate an Activity Ccor. Who has a degree in working with memory care clients. Activities are designed to meet their challenges while being fun and interactive. Always working to keep everyone involved. It is hard to trust others to do what we want to do but I am thankful and appreciate everyone at Legacy at Savannah Quarters.

My mother went into the Memory Care part of Legacy in October while the world was on lock-down. I chose Legacy because of an inside source as touring anywhere was impossible due to COVID. My friend was a former employee and said she would send her mother or even herself there as it was the best place she had ever worked. (she only quit due to moving) We were allowed to come in and set up her room and they were all helpful in suggesting little things that make life easier. I have taken her to doctor appointments, visited her on the porch, window visits, and in the clean room as restrictions have had to change as COVID requires. All have been pleasant with the staff helping her. She looks great and seems happy. She had a fall which resulted in a broken wrist. Unless you wrap them in bubble wrap or strap them to a chair, falls will happen from time to don't blame the place! They acted fast, sent her to the ER where I met her. (ER took ALL day) PT and OT were set up but COVID caused restrictions there so staff were taught to do therapy for her wrist and her wrist was 90% healed in 4 weeks where the doctor said would take 6 months! They have a very sweet hairdresser who calls me with updates though she doesn't have to. PT, OT and the hairdresser (who are all "outside" people) all say my mom is always smiling and happy which is also what I see when I visit. My mom isn't much of a joiner and she doesn't really like crafts...didn't as a young lady either. But they have many opportunities all day long to "play." I like that they do not force her to go against who she is. In many pictures, she is just watching as others make crafts. They do not force her though she has joined more than I would have thought. They have interior outdoor spaces for activities and just getting some fresh air. My mother loves to be outside so this is a plus for her. They did switch her roommate due to a personality conflict. Her roommate was very outgoing and was a conflict to my mother's introvert personality so they reassigned her to a more compatible lady. I find this to be extraordinary care as my mother would not have complained, even when she was 30. There was no abuse happening between roommates, just a mater of making them happier with more compatible friends. My mother's only living relative (beyond me & my son) is her brother who is in NC and 89 himself. He has reported that they happily take his calls as well as mine. Overall my mother is happy and healthy at Legacy. Everything is clean and well taken care of. COVID restricts me from her room but I can see it is all neat and clean from the window. Once COVID is under control, I feel assured that I will be welcome to visit freely. I feel confident that Legacy was a good choice.

Legacy has been mom’s home for one and a half years now. She has been cared for well and attention has been taken to concerns that we might have raised. Her apartment provides her with enough space for her to enjoy her day activities and her night rest. Staff care for her as if she’s part of their family. As she and others have been isolated from us and sometimes, even each other, the staff have worked hard to protect and provide for every need. Even in the midst of the pandemic hope has prevailed for her and the fellow residents. Legacy is a place where family is created and concern/care are expressed. We are glad to be part of the Legacy family.
