My brother lived at Harrison Bay until he passed. It was a lovely place, he had a beautiful spacious apartment with a nice view, and the staff seemed to be exceptionally nice and caring. They were very helpful after my brother passed as well.My brother always thought the food was outstanding. The thing I didn't care for about this facility was the lack of available free transportation for medical emergencies or appointments.
My Mom moved in one month ago, and this was a very, very positive step for her. The nursing staff is very warm and very resident-oriented -- we know their paperwork burdens are large, but they still take time for residents. Every staff member, at every level, clearly has been trained to demonstrate a "can do," positive and inclusive approach to residents, family and friends. I can't tell you how noticeable the warmth is, and how it helps to make every day sunny and happy. Mom is extremely happy with the positive energy, competence and kindness of the nurses and aides with whom she works. The apartments are new, easy to navigate in a wheelchair, bright and sunny, and quiet. Each has an individual heating and cooling unit, so there is no fear of airborne contaminants from neighbors or from being too hot or too cold. Convenience items like an ice maker in the refrigerator and a full size washer and dryer in the apartment makes things easy on all of us. The quality of the food is outstanding. Mom tells me the BLT sandwich is the best she's ever had, and she raves about the chicken, apple and cranberry salad. Mom has lived in four different assisted living facilities over the years, and this is by far the most beautiful setting on the shores of Dutch lake, the happiest, and the most professionally managed.
Beautiful and new! Views of wildlife out back while dining views of lake in winter when the leaves are gone. Peaceful place with new energy and great staff. Close to town walking distance, pet friendly.1 year later... I am updating my 5 starts to 3 .... I feel like there is room for improvement.
Harrison's Bay is just the right place for my parents as they have moved out of a home of 53 years into the two bedroom apartment. They are truly enjoying the beautiful surroundings and the brand new apt. The staff is so welcoming and helpful. As they adjust to this new way of living, I am always surprised at the activities they are partaking in. They look forward to getting together with new friends, going on shopping trips and no more cooking for mom. Her favorite part!
Very happy to say that my Grandparents have a beautiful apartment home that has incredible accommodations. The staff is given unique challenges on a daily basis and seem to respond appropriately when given the task of "nonsense" sometimes. The common areas are beautifully designed and the amenities are plentiful for those who want or need more than the apartment home living they're offered.
