Employee Reviews for Bethesda Senior Living in Grand Junction, Colorado
1.5 out of 5 stars. Based on 2 reviews
Employees of Bethesda Senior Living in the Grand Junction, CO area have generally negative experiences to report. They describe the work environment as unprofessional and full of drama, and the management as awful and unorganized. They also report that the management does not work around their schedules, even when it is in writing on their hiring paperwork. The one positive aspect of the job is the sweet residents. Other cons include poor management, getting in trouble for things from months prior, working harder than you are paid, limited 15 minute breaks, and a fast turnover rate. Employees do receive health plans, raises once a year, $3 meals on site, and kitchen prepares awesome food.Employee Reviews for Bethesda Senior Living
3.32 out of 5 stars. Based on 38 reviews
Employees of Bethesda Senior Living report mixed experiences. Pros include meeting amazing hard working people, flexible schedules, friendly environment, fair work practices, good training, and a homely facility with a driven work force. Cons include horrible management, overworking and underpaying employees, lack of Christian values, poor HR, not enough supplies, micromanagement, miscommunication errors, no reward programs, no maternity leave, no short or long term disability, and a toxic work environment. Advice to management includes getting rid of upper corporate management, paying employees what they deserve, making them feel appreciated, having an open door policy, reviewing wages and insurance, standing behind care staff, and drawing a line between business and health operations.By clicking "Get Exact Costs", you consent to being contacted either by My Caring Plan or our third-party partners at the phone number and contact information provided, including through the use of an automated dialer system. Nurse Cindy and all of the caregivers are extremely caring and compassionate. Daniel, Angelica, Jessica, Marcella, and others whose names I can't always remember are kind and respectful, and especially during this COVID period go out of their way to assure that families and their loved ones can connect via telephone & window "visits". Dietary staff are equally considerate.
I called and talked with this facility’s community coordinator who was so kind and was scheduled to come in and have a tour of the facility since they had openings in which to place my 93yo mother in. It was suggested that I call back the next day and speak to the director. I did and was asked by one person first “what else do you want to know.” I responded that I’d like to know how eligibility is determined, what my mom would be paying, etc. got to the next person who told me the info. Then she said she heard that my mom has a colostomy bag and I said yes she’s independent and doesn’t need care with it but maybe in the future she might. Then she said, “no.” And I replied “no to the future, we won’t care for a person with a colostomy bag? Or no altogether?” She said “no now, not ever”. I paused and she didn’t say anything else. That was it. Conversation over. After a really awkward silence I finally said thanks and hung up. I just want to say that I think that people who interact with elderly and their families at very difficult times in their lives in times of transitions where they are struggling with the idea of putting their parent into a home already should have a little more decorum and empathy in how they manage people and admissions. This is hard enough having to put my mom into a facility like that in the first place because my biggest fear is that she won’t get cared for by people who don’t know her and love her as her family does. I know now that if I had round the clock care from this facility caring for my moms colostomy bag that I’d die before I’d ask her to live there the rest of her days. A real shame to have people leave feeling worse than when they came in. What’s really bad is that the person I spoke to yesterday told me that colostomy bags wouldn’t be an issue and he read off the list of issues that wouldn’t make the cut but my moms issue was fine. Whew. Dodged a bullet with this one.
Don't put your loved ones here. The administrator will show up to do a care evaluation on your loved one and she will promise you guys the world. NONE of it will be accommodated. Nobody goes the extra mile to make sure things happen there. It's all about the money. It's how many people can the child of a administrator get to move in. It all goes to her pocket.Med errors will happen & your family may not get the right drug or any at all due to the QMAPS playing waitresses. Once again due to the administrator being who she is, she fired all the kitchen staff and the girls who pass pills now have to take food orders from residents, serve the food, & buss the tables. This place is a disaster. So many other wonderful places to put your family than here.Go take a look in the kitchen & see if YOU would eat food from there. Roaches & all.
My husband's parents moved into Grand Villa last month. We find the staff to be very caring and helpful. The interior of the facility is sunny and cheery, and the landscaping is quite beautiful. We appreciate the quality of the food and the variety of activities available to residents. Grand Villa is also located in a convenient part of the city, with amenities available within walking distance when we visit our loved ones. We highly recommend Grand Villa for anyone needing some assistance to maintain great quality of life.
I have a long history as a family member with Grand Villa. In 2008, I helped my uncle and aunt relocate to Grand Villa from the Denver area, since they had no children of their own. Then two years later, my parents moved to Grand Villa. As things go with aging, all are gone now, except my mother. There are still several staff members working at Grand Villa who were there when I first became acquainted with the facility.Having worked as a therapist and later as an administrator in long term care, I can confidently say that Grand Villa is a well-run facility. Staff are knowledgeable, caring, and responsive to the needs of the residents and their families. Over the years, I have become acquainted with other residents who live there. They appear to be well cared for and happy. When it came to selecting a facility to care for my loved ones, I know I made the right choice with Grand Villa.
