Goodwin house started in 1967, later came Goodwin house baileys crossroads. Residents are not allowed to tip, that prevents favoritism, so once a year starting in October there is a collection taken to be divided among staff. Last year it was over 300,000. It is given on a formula based on time served pay level a d a few other things. O many of the staff have been there for years. They are friendly and caring, helpful and well trained. They receive help with languages educational needs, and other benefits. As a resident I’m familiar with the benefits and the staff.Russ O’[email protected], write me.
Brain health focus is cutting edge and a priority. No matter the decreased brain status, brain health focus increases the quality of life and may even improve one's brain clarity. I am thrilled to discover Goodwin House Inc. I am a brain health caregiver, privately, and I have studied optimizing brain health.
I’ve been an employee of Goodwin House for more than 20 years. To me this is my family; the residents, staff, and even vendors who visit all make this a place of welcome and belonging. Since the pandemic hit, Goodwin House has provided staff with a one-time bonus, hero pay every paycheck, assistance with groceries, grant money for those hardest hit with lost income, free lunches, free Covid testing every couple weeks, and just continual support all around. How many can say that about their employers? I am proud to say I work at Goodwin House and encourage those with a heart to serve to join our family.
I love that I always know that my Mum is safe, secure and well-cared for, even during these difficult pandemic obstacles! GHA has adapted its protocols accordingly during coronavirus! We, family members, of a GHA resident, are so lucky and blessed! Thank you to the entire GHA staff!
GH may be well-designed and decorated and it may well be one of the better places for the elderly around here but the food is beyond awful. I have family members that live there and have been with them for meals ... it is unbelievable. When approached, management suggested they be taken elsewhere to eat or order something. They are paying thousands of dollars a month ... WHY CAN'T TASY MEALS BE SERVED? I challenge the administrators of GH to eat NOTHING BUT FOOD FROM THE FLOORS ABOVE THE FIRST FOR A WEEK!
This goodwin house only gets 1 star this company always have opening for nursing assist they can never keep staffed and some of the administrators are under cover racists they don't pay that good for the health risk job that nursing assist has to do as far as cleaning humans is the worst job ever but if u choose to do it just demand to get a decent hourly pay. Human resources older lady is awful she really need to retire because her disposition is not very nice and putting complaints in to the administrators is a waste of time its best to go over them with your complaints.they sitting on their butts making good pay while nursing assist busting their bodies on the floor standing for 8 hours cleaning human filth they should be paid at least 16 and extra on weekends no exception.dead end job
My parents have been there for 10 years and I have found this community caring and supportive at all levels. I somewhat agree with the other author about some of the changes, but the new facility is warm and welcoming. My parents moved from independent living to assisted and my father to Hope Garden. All along the way there were people working with my family. My father died this spring and we were held with love and care. And they are not from Alexandria. Thanks to Goodwin House and its staff for all of their care.
If you want clickish groups of old people, a management staff that does not listen to residents but knows what's best for them in a parental way, and food that lacks taste but is always covered in oil, this is the place for you!Seriously, it's like high school all over again with married couples only hanging with married couples, people from one church not associating with those from another, and if you're not from Alexandria, you're automatically a pariah. The facilities are nice but they have started a renovation to attract a younger crowd. Who are they kidding? Is a younger crowd in their seventies? A coffee shop instead of a cafe? Sacrificing every day functional areas for trendy ideas whilst ignoring the needs of the existing residents is typical of groups not in touch with reality.Having a pool open for only a few hours a day because you only want to pay for one lifeguard is a cheap move for a place with so many facilities. The pool is actively scheduled but what if you just want to take a swim? Closing it and locking it instead of allowing access to competent residents willing to sign a waiver is simply ignoring the residents yet again.Exercise room is about the size of one living room for 300 residents? Add no personal trainer, enough said. The only exit survey they have is what kind of coffin would you like?
