Employee Reviews for Good Samaritan Society in El Paso, Texas
2.71 out of 5 stars. Based on 7 reviews
Employees of Good Samaritan Society in the El Paso, TX area generally have positive things to say about their experience working there. They appreciate the positive culture among employees and residents, the willingness to help each other, and the opportunities for new nurses. However, there are some areas of improvement. Employees find the job to be very demanding and physical, and there is a lack of staff to help. Favoritism is also an issue, and the nurse to patient ratio is not safe. Employees suggest that management should be more receptive to suggestions from employees, treat all employees equally, get more staff to help, provide more detailed training for new nurses, and explain how they want things done instead of just yelling. Nightshift is seen as a more pleasant experience as it is calmer and the pay is better, but the management is seen as non-existent and often tries to guilt employees out of taking days off. The pay is okay, co workers are friendly, and there is some schedule flexibility. The job is simple and the residents and families are seen as awesome. There is also training available for continuing education credit hours.Employee Reviews for Good Samaritan Society
3.16 out of 5 stars. Based on 974 reviews
The Good Samaritan Society has generally positive reviews from employees. They appreciate the flexible schedule, willing to listen to employees, good benefits, and supportive system from the National Campus. Employees also enjoy the mission and culture of compassion. However, there are some cons such as pay being negligible compared to other companies, no official PTO, short staffing, long hours, poor management, and lack of corporate support. Employees suggest that the company should update their EMR, provide more team management, higher pay for nurses and CNAs, and provide more training and corporate support.Healthcare Nearby

Although the rehab specialists are good and nice, the daily care for my mom in March 2107 was horrible. She couldn't walk and, in spite of repeated requests, they did not put the call button in her reach. She was helpless in her bed or wheel chair. They put diapers on her as they didn't get to her in time to help her to the bathroom. They did not provide adequate nutrition assistance, not giving her ensure. When I pushed her button or she did, the wait for care was generally 20 minutes and never less than 5 minutes. I saw others with no one there visiting wait even longer. There is no security even, as the desk up front was almost never occupied. Guests, outside caregivers, etc. would stand waiting till another visitor or someone walked by to direct them. No one ever questioned me going in or out, much less helped me. The nurses in the main area use the closet as their office so they can close the door and not be bothered by those needing help. If there is an aid at the "nursing station" desk, they ignore residents and tell everyone to wait. They seem very, very overwhelmed and too busy. Understaffing is no excuse for the poor care - it is the reason. Even the online rankings that make them look so good are misleading -- ratings don't take into account any item they don't provide information on. And the claim that 100% of residents are always vaccinated is unbelievable. IF YOU USE THEM - have a family member or better yet a private aid available to provide daily care. And be careful about complaining -- they have a reputation for transferring out complainers or those doing poorly.
I attended a graduation party here for my friend's nephew. The parking lot is extremely small. We were lucky a health care worker was leaving or we wouldn't have found a parking spot at all. I didn't see the entire complex, just the cafeteria area where the party was held. It was a pretty large venue with plenty of windows.
Most not all but most of the nursing staff in the White Acres facility are just going threw the motions of their jobs. They are not concerned of patient care and or health. They have left my mother unattended in the bathroom for a 1/2 hour and have kept her from using the bathroom for over an hour. They forgot to bring her to breakfast, and have not had a CNA assigned to her. When making complaints about an ongoing ant infestation we were told that they would "clean" the floor. Last time I checked "cleaning" a floor does not mitigate an ant infestation. I am horrified at the conditions and or treatment that is continuing at this facility. When my mother needs long term care due to her illness or even if she need short term care again there is no way that I will ever allow her to come back here. The only saving grace is the 2% of staff that care and the P/T, O/T and speech therapy people that are wonderful. They do not deserve to be associated with the rest of the staff there.
