I was a resident at Florence Care Home from March 2020 until September 2021. During my time there in 2020, there was no better assisted living facility in the area. Meals were healthy, well balanced, and served on time. Medications and care were provided consistently by a staff who had genuine concern for, and interest in the residents. When the ownership and management changed hands at the end of 2020, all these things changed. Meals were no longer healthy, well balanced, or served on time, if at all. The published menu is often replaced by frozen chicken nuggets, tater-tots, or fast-food pizza. The distribution of meds and level of care under the current ownership has become quite inconsistent, often not done at all. Daily housekeeping tasks are rarely performed and only after complaining to management. After complaining, they are done that day and assurances are given that they will be done daily moving forward. The tasks are not done again until another complaint is raised with management. There is also an activities calendar posted but almost none of the activities actually take place.Required COVID-19 protocols are not being followed. Staff, residents, vendors, and visitors are not required to wear masks or have their temperatures checked or questioned about symptoms before entering the facility. My medications have disappeared while under the control of the facility. I have asked for, and been denied, the opportunity to take possession of my medications. Other residents have had their medications come up missing too.On three separate occasions a resident has pushed their emergency call button in the middle of the night and there was no response from the on-duty staff member. After hearing the alarm going off for 15-30 minutes I would get out of bed, get dressed, and go look for the on-duty staff member, only to find them asleep on the sofa with a blanket and pillow, oblivious to the blaring alarm. Another resident had to wake the on-duty staff member on a fourth occasion. There was a recently released, incarcerated man living secretly on the premises, gaining access to the facility by climbing through a window at night. There are no security cameras installed at the facility. Safety was and is a major problem.I could not get away from this facility fast enough and would no longer recommend it to anyone.

I'm a home care nurse and go into a lot of facilities. I had to see a patient at this location and although it is a humble place, I was very impressed! Very welcoming, the elders seem happy, and the food I saw for their lunch was way better than what I've seen in other locations. The staff appear to have genuine concern and their desire to monitor the elders' health and well-being is refreshing. Based on what I saw, I'd recommend this place.
