Could you provide an overview of the types of professionals on your staff and the training they undergo at your facility?
We have 24 hr Licensed Nurses, Med Tech's as well as caregivers. Our Executive Director is also an LVN and has been at Desert Hills for over 10 years. Every employee undergoes 40 hours of Dementia Care training upon hire and 2-hours of Dementia training every month thereafter.
Could you tell me about the measures you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your residents?
Our community is completely secured all around the perimeter. All doors leading into and out of the community are locked by code or key. Our care associates do hourly rounds as well as engage our residents to participate in activities, redirecting them in common areas to ensure that there are eyes on our residents at all times.
Do you offer any resources or support services to aid residents' transition into the community?
We hold a monthly Education & Connection Support Group for our caregivers and their families. As our residents tend to transition well for the most part, it is their loved ones that have a harder time and need additional support.
Do you offer transportation services for residents?
Yes
Could you tell me a little about your dining experience?
We serve 3 delicious meals per day and two gourmet snacks; however, our kitchen is open 24 hours, and our residents can have whatever their hearts desire. We eat meals together, family style in our dining room.
What is the process that takes place if a resident has a complaint or an issue they want addressed?
We will touch base with the family and/or POA and address the concern.
What is the cost of living in your community?
Cost depends on level of care. Our shared rooms start at $3910 for level 1 and level 6 is $6690
What is your policy on communication with resident's families? How do you keep them updated about their loved ones' well-being?
We will communication via email or phone any time there is a change of condition or incident occurs.
Do you all offer short-term or respite stays? How much does this cost?
Yes, we do offer Respite. It is $265/day with a 5 day minimum.
Are you all a pet-friendly community?
Yes, however the resident will need to be able to care for the pet completely on their own, without assistance from care staff.
Are residents able to get Covid vaccination and flu vaccinations in the community?
Yes, during our annual Covid and Flu clinic
Are residents able to age in place?
Yes, absolutely. Most of our residents come from other memory care or assisted living communities because we are able to handle all levels of care and high acuity residents due to our 24 hour nursing staff. Desert Hills is very much a forever home for the majority of our residents.
