I had the need to stay there on 2 different occasions. The staff were terrific and made me comfortable at all times. The physical therapy staff were patient and provided their expertise that helped me recover and on the way in the shortest time necessary. Thanks to all there.
This is the Best place in San Diego for rehabilitation from surgery. The food is 5 , the facility is 5 , the staff is 5 . .I feel so blessed that there was a bed open so I could recoup here .. I have PT and OT 6 days a week taught by very qualified people. Simply The Best!
I hated my experience!!! They had construction going on and guys in loud boots walking up and; down the balcony and in rooms above me. Also what's the whole prison vibe? Why are metal gates needed Everytime I needed to go a guest or delivery I had to put shoes on, leave my room, open the prison style gate outside and not mention to the building letter was annoying asf. They should paint that sh*t red or make it more clear. In addition they tried to charge me a hidden charge. If you don't call them out they keep it on there. Look at for that. They should've told me about the construction and the prison style gates. Which can I say I don't get AT ALL cause that's a safe area. That stupid prison gate makes it feel super uncomfortable. What is point of that? None of the other hotels have a prison gate ..not Motel 6, West and THEY HAVE A STEAKHOUSE nor does Grand Pacific have a prison gate. The prison gate gives off the wrong vibes. The pool is dated too. Btw I named those other places cause not only don't they not have a prison gate but they are cheaper too. They also have better food around them too.
Our room was dirty; first steps into the room we found black widow spider, roly poly bugs, pincer bugs, and general grime! Heater / AC didn't work. Notified front desk about all issues. They did fix the heater but never sent anyone to clean the bugs. Housekeeping said if it's not on their list they don't clean it. Had 3 sets of towels for a 4 person room and had to request an extra towel daily. Giving it 2 stars bc of how helpful the maintenance person was. Aside from that, worst hotel I've ever stayed in!
I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a close place to sleep near Legoland. The location was great for our stay. There are also a lot of places to shop and eat with the outlets across the street. The check-in staff was extremely nice and personable. However, the room was kinda dirty and had a weird musty smell. I didn't really want to shower in the bathroom because the tub had a yellow ring around the inside that grossed me out. There was also a cockroach in front of the fridge. The good thing was that it was half dead so it seemed that they apparently sprayed but I would think that should have been cleaned up when the room was cleaned...The walls are SUPER thin and you hear all the people on each side and above you clearly.
Just wanted to give a quick review on this place I really enjoy this place when we come down. But this last time not so much this time there was a leak in the Ac that ruined a few things we had. Then we had to check out early then we wanted due to the leak. They gave us a discount but could have done a little more. Next time I come that way might have to stay somewhere else . Or maybe the lady that helped us didn't seem to care on what happened with our things. That would have made a big difference
I just spent the weekend at this hotel. The hotel is okay and clean, but not what I was expecting at all. For what we paid, I would have expected ports for charging phones. The air conditioning would not go below 72 degrees and none of us slept well due to the lack of cooling. The hotel felt like a nice Motel 6 for over twice the price.
The Carlsbad by the Sea Hotel rooms are over price. The hotel name needs to be change to motel. The hotel is not in closed building. The exterior needs major upgrade. The bedroom area seems clean but bathroom needs a serious makeover..The room was missing shower curtain, towels and broken air conditioner. The room temperature stay at 76 degrees which was very warm. The air conditioner is extremely loud. The rooms (208/209) balcony door lock is broken but luckily there is a hook to lock it. But is not a comfortable feeling knowing is broken. This is a major safety issue. Another safety issue, outside light of room 209 is broken which makes the walkway dark. Requested for towels and shower curtain which they dropped off. I had to hang it myself. The housekeeping service is not available but offer towels upon request. The toilet got clog and called for maintenance to fix it. They were going to drop off the plunger but rejected. They were assuming that I was going to fix it for them. The guest service is excellent. The COVID 19 policy is not followed by some front desk employees. They are not wearing mask.
Dont bother coming here unless you want to shower in yellow water. Take a look at the water coming out of the faucets, fucking nasty. Check in is also hella long because of their bullshit excuse of being short staff. No check in til close to 7 pm....dont over book if u aint got the staff, pure greed from hotel owner. Why is this hole still in business? There are better places to stay at...
When it comes to my experience at Carlsbad by the sea "RESORT" and I use that term loosely. I unfortunately have a lot in common with a lot of the 1/2 star reviews that you'll read on yelp. My experience from beginning to end: We checked in with no problems. Received our key cards and headed up to our double suite with all of our luggage. Everything was seemingly fine. But several hours later there ended up being an issue with the bathroom. So we went down & spoke with the front desk. Their suggestion/solution was to give us a key to a room four doors down from ours so we could use the restroom. I don't know about you but that sounds a lot like an outhouse to me. And in 2021 that's just extremely outdated/insane. I still don't understand why the hotel would expect someone to get fully dressed, shoes and all. Leave the comfort of their room day or night just to use the bathroom. Given the fact that it's summer we know the importance of drinking LOTS of water & remaining hydrated. So we thought what the hell "when you gotta go you gotta go". During the brief five minutes we were gone from the room. We received a call from a family member that said the bathroom situation had gotten increasingly/unbearably worse. We walked back to our room & seen the problem. And immediately contacted the front desk to find us another room. They unfortunately did not have any other suites available. But they did manage to find two joint rooms to put us in. So now it's 2:00 in the morning & we have to gather all the luggage of 10 people and relocate to a room literally on the other side of the resort. Saying that this was an inconvenience would be a huge understatement. But no one flipped out. Everyone maintained their composure and just relocated. To be honest I don't think anyone had the energy to cause a scene. We were on the road all day. It's 2:00am & at this point we just wanted to go to sleep. When we entered our second room & began unpacking for the second time in the same night we quickly realized the AC was not on. It wasn't on because it was broken... or so we thought. None of the buttons worked at all. But after giving it a few firm tabs like you would do the side of a black-and-white TV from the 80s when it lost reception... "Eureka" We've got cold air. SMH, All I could think is "what a piece of crap." The next morning we had a full day planned. We got up early despite going to bed late & had a fun filled day. Upon returning none of our keys worked. So we had to go to the front desk again to get new key cards. We did end up staying here for the duration of our trip & didn't have any other problems after that. Some good things that I can say about this hotel is: All of the staff were very friendly. The hotel is conveniently located near Legoland and various other places of interest. And the dining hall was filled with a large variety of eateries. Upon checking out we didn't even bother to ask for a discount or refund. We just took it as a learning lesson. We will definitely be vacationing in San Diego again. But we will not... I repeat will not be staying at the Carlsbad by the sea resort.
Poor service at check in. Room shower drain was clogged. Dresser drawers wouldn't stay closed. Coffee machine was broken. Beds squeaked so much they woke us up if we moved the slightest bit while sleeping. One side of building next to highway and therefore very noisy. Room reeked of smoke. Expected better for price.
First day, rooms not ready at 4 pm. Had to wait in a long line for check in only to find out that the rooms aren't ready. People standing in line to check in waiting outside the lobby. Rooms ready over 1 hr later. Must request a microwave for your room at check in. Wow, that's a first for me. Rooms look like a motel (run down). You can see daylight coming through the entry door because it was missing door seals. Room looked old and really needed a good cleaning. Shower had hardly any pressure. Unreal! Didn't complain much at the time because at least the water was hot and after a long drive it felt good. Looked up on the ceiling and saw where someone smashed and killed some kind of insects at 3 spots. I read a review about 1 lady complaining about bugs, should have listened. My wife killed a cricket later in the evening on the bed. Room had 2 queen beds. One bed creaked because of worn out bed springs. Due to Covid, management stated that no employee will enter your room. So no housekeeping. Understandable. You must call for towels and linens between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm. 2nd day, came back from the beach and our towels in a plastic bag was hung on our door knob. Not enough towels for 2 people. Had to ask housekeeping a few door s down for more. Mini fridge started making odd noises which kept me up for a little while. It was old and needs to be replaced. 3rd day, came back from Legoland as I looked at our door from about 5 rooms down it looked like a housekeeper just closed our room door upon seeing us come her way and left through the gate. Entered our room and found towels placed inside our room. No employee was suppose to enter our room. Don't trust this place. Not enough towels again. Found a housekeeper and got more. Last night, so happy we had only 1 more night in this place. Around 7 pm my granddaughters had an adjacent room next to ours, one of them said they have a water leak coming from the ceiling over the sink. My wife called the front desk to notify them about this. Was told they were too busy now and will check it out when they can. That never happened but at 11 pm, a man opened their door and walked in in their room. He looked surprised when he saw one of my granddaughters. He said "did you get your towels? She said yes and left. WTF!! (security issue) I found this out the next morning and complained to the front desk. They said they will look into it. Yah right! This place is so unprofessional. The only good thing about this place is it's close to beaches, shopping and restaurants (Legoland). If you have read this to this point, please read the bad reviews, they are true. wish I did. this place is a overpriced run down motel. As far as reviews, there are responses from the hotels owner rep, stating they are truly sorry and will improve. Please look how far in years this spokeswoman has replied to all of these complaints and you will understand that nothing is ever done. I know I will from now on. We payed a lot for 4 nights here that wasn't worth the money. My wife said we shouldn't here when deciding where we were going to stay. I wanted to be close to everything and thought it could not be as bad as some of the reviews. I was wrong. We will never stay here again.
Very disappointed with this hotel, we got there early but was able to enjoy the pool, they said they will let us know when our room was ready, no one called us, we went to check at 355p not ready yet, check in is at 4p We were checked in at 5p Ridiculous.....they were short staffed. Our room was ok the dresser drawers didn't close, there were no more towels when we called, they gave us pool towels. They don't empty the trash or put new Toliet paper daily.....so had 2 keep calling....We were there for a wedding which was beautiful but not staying here again.......
Went to check in after driving 3 hours, looking forward to spending a weekend away to celebrate a friends birthday / graduation and they wouldn't let us check in because we were under 21. Nowhere on the website did it say you had to be 21+ , we were offered a refund for the room, but what about the gas and the time it took us to get down here ? We are now 3 hours away from home, with nowhere to stay. Currently trying to find a new hotel to stay at since this one obviously can't accommodate to their guests.
2 stars because the staff was nice. The hotel? Garbage! This place was a total downer for us. Our thermostat didn't work, nor the tv. Table on our balcony was broken. Adding insult to injury was the fact our rooms were right in front of the garbage bins for the food hall. And that "80-85" degrees the pool is all the time is quite hilarious. Pool was ice cold. Never again.
What a nightmare, I honestly do not know where to begin. At check in I was finally given the keys to my room after the gentlemen took close to 30 minutes trying to figure out the system. When I went up to my room with my son and nephew we moved out of the way for housekeeping and got paint all over our clothes. They were painting and I guess "forgot" to put up a wet paint sign. The paint was all over my sons rash guard so he got a massive sun burn at the beach the next day since he wasn't able to wear it. The bed were VERY uncomfortable by the end of my two night stay my back was in a lot of pain. The pool area was not cleaned the entirety of my stay. When I brought this matter to the front desk Heliot, said there is nothing they can do about the cleaning since they are short staffed. At check out I was told I would be getting a one night refund by the man working the front desk Heliot and instead of giving me a refund he charged me. We went round and round around it and I said him to have the manager call me. She never did call I had to call her that evening. Her response was she was too busy to call me. The mangers name is Niveesha. Niveesha said that she would be giving me a full credit and Heliot unfortunately didn't know what he was doing with the refund and charged me instead so I would be getting that back too. Now instead of paying my initial price of 373 I had paid 730. The sad part is more charges were made the next morning of 12.50 and then the next morning another 189.33. When I called back Niveesha and asked for her bosses name and number she would only give me her bosses email telling me I had too much venom in my voice to give me his number. I'm sorry but anyone that was dealing with this would have venom in the voice and not be pleased. I asked for corporate's number and she gave me the wrong one. I'm at a loss with this place. I still haven't received my full refund and who knows if more charges will be made. I strongly urge you to not stay there this place is a scam and they take no blame for anything.Responding to your comment Niveesha, I did not write down the number to corporate wrong. I was told by the east coast office that I need the West coast number and I was given the correct number by them. The sad part is you deflect your wrong doings by you and your staff instead of making it right. I also like how you have all the time in the world to type on here but you cannot get on the phone to help matters. I have gotten my bank involved since the charges keep getting made and the refunds are yet to be done. Trust me when I say this is the absolute worse stay at a hotel I have ever experienced and the sad part is it's all because of the staff.
If I could give it zero stars I would... :( Where do I start with this place? I came here with my mother in law, and my spouse. We got two rooms, when we took my mother in law up to her room, the door was open, unlocked, at night, the silver bar was holding it open. I had to check the room before leaving her. When my wife and I got to our room, it was dirty, outdated, so old, but not good old. It made you feel like you were in a motel, then our shower head leaked everywhere. On top of that, our bed was so creaky and old we couldn't even move without it sounding like it would break. We had to switch rooms, and it doesn't end there. Once we switched room there was no communication that we switched rooms, so the cleaning service came in our room with a key while we were there not once, not twice, but six times. Then as I was getting ready to shower I noticed that I could write my name in dust/dirt on the toilet. The tub was not cleaned, and the floors left our feet BLACK. The bed sheets had hair in it.. that wasn't even MINE! I cannot stress enough how dissapointed we were. Literally could not be worse. :(
the sides are closed off so you have to go through the main entrance didn't know this and had to cancel my postmates delivery the people that order stuff here are old liberals so they kinda expect to be pampered and won't come outside to pick up a package they ain't nothing like granny from the south 😂
