Very great staff, beautiful assisted living that also had a nice nursing unit. Convenient for us, as myself and my siblings live in Portsmouth or Little Compton . It's nice to have a great place close by , and my dad who lived here knew several of the other residents as well since they were also from the area . That was a plus .My father lived here for almost three years and was very happy. He enjoyed the amenities, activities. I found the staff very very accommodating and always addressed my concerns and followed through with requests . Many of the staff would do extras for my dad, bringing him snacks , one made him a small birthday cake, .. Things like that. My dad was fairly independent , liked to flirt with staff and walk around and tell bad jokes , he played the piano badly, but they were very patient with that ! He was very happy there, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sakonnet bay manor. Staff is caring and attentive . It really is a wonderful place for anyone needing an assisted living setting.
As a resident I recommend highly. Privacy is honored. Help if needed is dispensed immediately. everything is done to make you comfortable. Where else can you go and have your bed made daily, trash removed daily, clean linens daily, food cooked for you with a menu of at least 3 choices 3 times per day. If you need help with meds nurses at your disposal. Activities available, of your choice, every day all day if desired. This is like living on a cruise ship on land. I have lived here for 1 year and do not have a complaint yet.
It's hard to rate because there are 4 seperate types of residences, each with mandatory federal ,state and local compliance requirements. But the one commonality across the facility is the kind, caring, generous, and loving staff that become part of your family. Their upbeat attitudes are outstanding! I would suggest that their upcoming open house would be a good start, followed by a more personal tour. I needed their services for 3 years and while no where is perfect, I would return for further care as needed and feel comfortable having family members there.
In the Independent Living they require 2 months notice when leaving. This is outrageous. I checked with several other homes in the area and they only required 1 month. I could understand if it was in the Assisted Living program because you rely on nurses and other services that Independent Living does not utilize. I am paying over 6200.00 for an apartment that I am not in. They told me the reason was because it is harder to fill those rooms. It's not the fault or burden of the person renting the apartment that they have trouble filling vacancy. My feelings about this have just begun and I will go out of my way thru social media to let people know what they are doing. This is too bad because we really liked it there but had to leave do to unforeseen tax issues. This is just the beginning....
