Brandywine Living is amazing and we couldn't be happier. The environment that Brandywine creates makes all the residents feel independent and confident but at the same time medical services are in place to keep them safe and not at risk. The staff is so professional and polished as well as being very approachable and responsive. The minute you walk in the door you will be impressed! We wish we could give it more than 5 STARS
There are some wonderful people who work here and have the ability to think independently, critical thinking, are proactive, and think through situations. Then there are some well-intentioned and competent if they only had leadership, guidance, better management to show them what above-average service and care is, then so many things would not be done inadequately. Communication channels with various departments are inadequate.
I’m a relative of a resident and after spending years working in facilities I’m frankly disturbed by the stories I hear from this facility.Don't try to learn staff names as the turnover rate has to be nearing 100%.Care managers yell at other staff even when family is visiting and my relative has told me countless times they (care managers) scream at her demanding her to get out of bed or pick up things when she's no longer able to move/function as independently as she used to. Last time I spoke to my relative she said she's been alone for hours and that she's been waiting for my call for days...why? Because it is nearly impossible to get ahold of the residents as there doesn't appear to be anybody there advocating for them.I’ve called countless times over the last year due to limited visits and getting the ED or wellness director to call back is nearly impossible. Each resident has a pendant to call for help (which they mentioned to my other relative multiple times in the tour) but my relative said she’s pressed it for numerous hours before staff came to check on her.I suggest corporate takes a long hard look at this facility and does a thorough review given that residents are paying thousands upon thousands for "quality care," and not receiving it."When you call Brandywine home, you and your family will have the security and peace of mind in knowing our commitment to quality and to customer service is at the heart of everything we do." ... my family and I hope this statement becomes true before we're forced to relocate our relative.
Brandywine is a beautiful facility and for the most part the staff is wonderful and they are nice compassionate people. The food was wonderful and there were many choices for the residents. It sometimes could take a while to actually place your order and receive your food though which I know many of the residents were frustrated with. My dad moved in when there were less than 40 residents and I will say that for the most part we were really satisfied with his care. Nothing is perfect and of course not all personalities mesh but I was pretty pleased and more importantly, he seemed to be happy. My dad had cancer and took a downward turn pretty quick and at first he had Palliative care through Capital Caring and that seemed to work in association with Brandywine. Having the Brandywine doctor proved to be challenging ( for my family anyway) due to her only being there one day a week and it being so challenging to get her on the phone, but in all fairness she had many many patients spread all around town along with patients at their normal offices. Now here is my reason for only giving three stars. My dad was released from the hospital on a Monday and thank the lord we had started hospice care with the help of Capital Caring ( whom by the way are fantastic) and we had no idea his time left was so short. By Friday morning it was clear things were bad and I immediately notified the hospice nurse and she ordered all medications and oxygen to make what time he had left more comfortable. He got two rounds of the medications which were given every 3 hours and then there was a shift change and all the hospice meds were misplaced. After they were finally found I had to leave my dad and beg the nurse to come every single time he needed his medication because they did not come to administer them. Those three hour intervals turns into five hours a few times before he would get his medication. To say I was upset is an understatement. And this is when there were 40 residents. No where near being even slightly full given how many rooms there are. It was heartbreaking that my fathers last two days were not peaceful and that he was not made comfortable. I spoke with them after his passing and honestly I did not feel like they understood this. All I wanted was for my dad to pass not in pain and to have the care he deserved. It is not cheap to have a loved one there, and to me it was devastating the care he received in those final two days. I wanted to add that up until his last days, of course there were a few things that were annoying but I was very happy especially compared to other facilities he had been in ( for rehab after hospital stays) and I would still recommend Brandywine for a loved one. I would have my mom there if needed. I changed my review to 4 stars from 3 because given the amenities and the wonderful staff I felt it was deserved. As with any senior care, family involvement is essential
One of the main reasons I buy Mercedes vehicles is the expectation of superior service and interaction with personnel at the dealership. I recently had my GLC300 picked up for service and a Virginia State Safety Inspection by Mercedes Benz of Alexandia. I can't rave enough about Zack and the ease of scheduling the entire experience from making the initial appointment, updating me about the progress of the work and scheduling the return of my vehicle. Every aspect of the was performed with attention to Corona Virus precautions. Everything was done to mitigate my concerns about potential spread of the virus. The service was done when promised and every schedule was meet. My vehicle was returned in immaculate condition. As usual, the work was done perfectly. Even the process to pay was completed with full concern for the spread of the virus. Mercedes Benz of Alexandria fulfills my expectation of Mercedes quality.
Brandywine is a beautiful community that takes excellent care of the residents and brings peace of mind to their families. The facility is beautiful and the scheduled activities keep the residents on the go and involved. The wellness team offers excellent and caring support and is tuned in to the residents' needs. The staff is truly the best - making the residents feel safe, engaged and at home.
