The Terrace At Bishop'S Glen is a top-tier nursing home renowned for its exceptional ratings. With a remarkable 5-star overall rating, it proudly stands in the top 10% of facilities nationwide in terms of overall ratings, surpassing even the state average. Their relentless focus on unparalleled service is further emphasized through their 4-star health inspections rating, granting them a place within the top 30% of facilities on this criteria, which is, also, above the state's average rating. Further underlining its excellence in service, the nursing home has earned itself a 5-star quality rating, placing it in the elite top 20% of facilities, this too, rises above the state average. The Terrace At Bishop'S Glen continues to set high standards in the nursing home sector with its stellar ratings.Staff Ratings
The Terrace At Bishop'S Glen nursing home has a staff rating of only two stars, placing it in the lower bracket of facility rankings. Unfortunately, with nursing aid staffing hours per resident per day being a mere 2.1, the facility lags behind the state average of 2.35, placing it in the bottom half of facilities for this criterion. However, the facility fares better in terms of LPN staffing hours, boasting 0.98 hours per resident per day, surpassing the state average of 0.83 and placing it in the top 40% of facilities. Despite averaging 0.62 RN staffing hours per resident per day, which is marginally lower than the state average of 0.67, the facility is still in the top half for this area. The nursing home extends its upper-tier ranking to licensed staffing hours per resident per day, with 1.6 hours compared to the state's 1.51, again falling into top 40% of facilities. Physical therapist staffing hour metrics put the nursing home in the top half of facilities, at 0.06 hours per resident per day, even though this is slightly less than the state's average of 0.09.Covid Data
The Terrace At Bishop'S Glen nursing home boasts a commendable ranking in the top 30% of facilities when it comes to the percentage of residents up to date with the latest vaccinations. According to recent figures, 84.4% of their residents have received the latest vaccination, a significant increase when compared to the state average rate of 52.9%. However, the facility falls prey to a low staff vaccination rate, placing it in the bottom half among similar facilities. Merely 12.3% of their staff are up to date with the latest vaccination which is significantly lower than the state average of 20.2%. This sheds light on the need for improvement in their staff's vaccination program.Quality Measures
The Terrace At Bishop'S Glen nursing home stands out with its 5-star quality measure rating, an exemplary achievement as this is the highest possible rating. However, there are some areas for potential improvement. For instance, the facility falls in the lower end, specifically the bottom 30%, when it comes to the percent of residents who received an antipsychotic medication. The percentage of residents who received this category of medication is 18.0%, notably higher than the state's percentage of 10.24%. In contrast, The Terrace At Bishop'S Glen is in the top bracket, specifically the top 40%, of facilities regarding the percentage of residents who have depressive symptoms; their score is 1.0%, well under the state's rate of 2.58%. This is also mirrored in their record on ulcer incidence; they rank in the top 20% of facilities, with a rate of 3.85% compared to the state's 9.04 rate. Yet when it comes to the percentage of residents whose ability to move independently worsened, the nursing home is merely in the top half of facilities. Their figure of 13.69% is barely higher than the state's figure of 13.57%. This data suggests a need for renewed focus on improving mobility for the residents, in line with their otherwise high standing.Emergency and Hospitalization Quality Measures
The Terrace At Bishop'S Glen nursing home demonstrates a mixed performance in comparison to other facilities and state metrics. The facility places in the lower 40% bracket for hospitalizations per 1000 days, with a rate of 1.89, lower in fact than the state average of 2.12. On the other hand, it ranks favorably in the top 10% for outpatient emergency department visits per 1000 days, with a rate of 0.25, significantly less than the state average of 0.79. Despite this, it settles in the bottom 40% for the percentage of short-stay residents who require outpatient emergency visits, displaying a rate of 14.44 in comparison to the state's 9.97. Notably, The Terrace At Bishop'S Glen showcases a strong performance in terms of the percentage of short-stay residents who were rehospitalized after a nursing home admission, standing in the top half of all facilities, with a rate of 21.4 against the state's higher metric of 25.54.Healthcare Nearby

When my grandparents moved here less than 3 years ago, they instantly regretted their decision but felt trapped after selling their home, possessions and liquidating their assets and have therefore stayed. Allowing this to remain was one of the worst decisions my family ever could have made. The food is decent at best and the food service staff in majority is poor, as is their current hostess. She shows inherent favoritism where residents who "play the game" through flattery, begging and bribery receive assistance, while others do not. The other residents are ignored or keep their concerns to themselves for fear of repercussion. The residents are spoken down to in rude tone of voice, things are muttered at them under their breath or are ignored altogether. Tonight two servers said "what do you expect? I'm busy!" to two tables who asked for their drinks having not received them half way through their meals. When I inquired about this I was told it was because they were "short staffed" and our waitress had to cover 6 tables. Nevertheless, order of operations is to bring drinks first and then food. Additionally, especially in a medically fragile population, food without a beverage is a choking hazard. When I asked the hostess, who acts as the "manager" she shouted while walking by our table that she didn't know why it was "any of my business", a comment that is both rudely unnecessary and ignorant. My grandfather is and will ALWAYS be my business, As are all people who are being treated unkindly or unfairly, as it is part of my code of ethics as a medical professional and my charge as a decent human being. Additionally, the apartment buildings are poorly maintained and often smell. Despite having cleaning services, the apartment is generally dirty and requires that we clean it ourselves, despite the fact that my grandfather at 90 still vacuums daily, he cannot clean the bathrooms as it is a safety risk for his to bend over and scrub. I often wonder if we should hire additional outside cleaning services, as whenever I come to visit their are mold rings in the toilet bowls, dust everywhere and he is often told to "stay out of her way or leave" so she can clean. Management staff is difficult to contact, as evidenced by the fact they don't even list their numbers on their website in a contact directory. I cannot encourage you enough to look for other placement for your loved ones, I rather beg of you.
If I could give no stars I would the staff is the rudest people I have ever spoken to in my life & should be ashamed at the way they conduct themselves. They neglect your loved ones to the point of disrepair then avoid your questions & shuffle you around on the telephone. This is not a place you put anyone that you love. I asked for the DON & the ADON on several occasions only to be rudely told that I can’t have what is supposed to be PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE. After several misplaced calls a CNA finally routed my call to the appropriate person where I left a message & am waiting for a return phone call. They did nothing to place my mind at ease before Covid-19 & definitely not after Covid-19.
Overall, the facility is okay, but the food (The Abbey) is awful. For the past 4-5 months, I've asked to know the per-resident food budget per day, and my question's always ignored/not answered. As if I'm a complete idiot, I've been told food is included in the pricing -- no kidding.
Excellent facility and very welcoming and friendly staff! I first went to visit a family member who was attending therapy at this facility and I was so impressed with the level of service provided by Curtis Whetzel. If anyone else I know breaks their hip, they will be sent his way! Thanks again Curtis and team for the excellent service!
All I have to say is check health department and local police reports going back about 2 - 5 years before thinking of placing a loved one in their assisted living facilities. Just the smell of the interior of the buildings should be evidence enough of some serious issues. Not a good neighborhood.
