Staff and Assistance
As far as our staff, we have 24/7 aide staff assistance. Typically, the ratio is 1 aide assigned to 8 residents. Our aides are wonderful and know how to handle enhanced level care. We have med techs who dish out medication to the residents accordingly. Also, a LPN works here at Birchwood Suites Sunday-Thursday and is on-call 24/7 in case of emergency.
Resident Well-being and Services
Birchwood Suites prioritizes the well-being of all residents in our community. To ensure safety, the aide staff checks up on their assigned residents every hour, including in the night. Our director of resident services, Natasha, insists on creating a positive, friendly environment for all. Natasha offers support for all the residents as well as provides the resources that they may need. Our entire staff truly is a safe place for residents to go to if they need help with anything.
Transportation and Outings
We do have a Birchwood Suites transportation bus that takes residents out once a week for shopping, movies etc. Any other form of transportation, like a taxi service, we can help the family arrange for their loved one.
Dining Services
Our dining hall serves 3 meals a day, at 8am, 12pm, and 5pm. We have multiple menus and food selections as well as snacks throughout the day.
Communication and Feedback
If a resident has an issue, they should feel open to come to any staff member and share their concerns. The director of resident services will manage the situation and make a decision on what is best. We will of course have that complaint on file to make sure the issue is not repeated.
Although they are allowed to have a cell phone, most residents here do not have their own to communicate with their families. In this case, either the receptionist or director will assist the resident in making calls to their family. Natasha will make sure to update the family as much as they would like on the status of their loved ones.
Respite Stays and Adult Day Care
We do offer respite stays starting at $250 a day all-inclusive. We also have an adult day care program which is starting at $120 a day.
Pet Policy
We are a pet friendly community, allowing our independent cottage residents to have pets. In the main building, pets are not allowed.
Availability and Accommodations
Currently, we do not have a waitlist. We have availability for a shared room and private room in both enhanced care and memory care as well as independent cottages.
Healthcare and Vaccinations
Once a year, we have a pharmacist come to Birchwood and give covid and flu vaccinations to the residents who are interested.
Aging in Place
Aging in place is something we pride ourselves on here at Birchwood Suites. Since we have an enhanced license, it allows us to provide extra care like dressing, feeding, toileting etc. We can also provide hospice care as well. This ensures that as our residents may progress, we will continue to handle the amount of care that they will need.
Our Community
Our community is a former old-world estate, and we offer great care for our residents who call our community home, with all-inclusive pricing starting at $4,500.00 for shared accommodation. We are located just north of Jericho Turnpike and are convenient to all major parkways.

95 bed Enhanced Assisted Living Community with a 17-bed dedicated Memory Care Unit, Lavender Gardens.
