Lucien and Stella have several beautiful homes in Los Angeles. Their family and staff are a wonderful gift to the older adults and the families they serve. As a Certified Aging Life Nurse Manager, I do not receive any compensation from senior homes or agencies. And I can say without a doubt that I would recommend their homes to my own family and loved ones. Highly recommend!
We were referred to Better Living and Care from Ron Passaro Group. After seeing many bed and care places, we decided on Crescent Villa home for our grandmother. Lucien was very kind and caring, and communicated with us every step of the way. The caregivers especially Tuya, were excellent and attentive to her needs. We couldn't have hoped for better care. Thank you To Lucien and Stella, and all the staff for your great work. We feel lucky we found this place.
When we were looking for assisted living for my aunt, my cousins and I wanted to be sure she wouldn't just be left alone all day. We thought it was really important keeping her occupied and interested. We combed the area, visiting 6 other places, and in almost every one we walked into, the residents were just sitting there watching TV or alone in their rooms. Better Living has a dedicated activities person there almost every day, and the time is spent interactively... playing games, discussing events, etc. Last time I visited, they were playing Mad Libs!!! Better Living, although a small care home, has very kind and attentive staff. They are always smiling whenever we visit, and they address the residents in a very kind and respectful way. Aunt Julia enjoys the other people who live there and seems very happy. If you are looking, I recommend Better Living!
Better Living can truly boast that it operates VERY CLEAN residences. The owners, Stella and her charming son, Lucien, always address any family concerns promptly. The care provided by their staff is attentive and so many things are done to insure the resident's comfort and care. It is a great relief knowing that all of the wheelchair transportation needs to doctors appointments are smoothly handled by Better Living. The owners always have a clear picture of any issues that come up for the residents, particularly with memory loss & confusion, so their clarification in these instances really provide a "deep breath" for the family. On my "second time around" in having to choose a residential living facility...both times I selected Better Living without hesitation.
I'm going to tell you, straight out, that my mother gave me a childhood in which every day was a charming adventure. I doubt a child ever felt more loved than I did. When my mother got older, she looked straight at me one day, and asked me to make decisions for her in her old age that she would have made for herself. I took that request, and the trust she placed in me, very, very seriously. When she started slipping into dementia, and needed round- the-clock care,I researched living alternatives endlessly, and consulted with an professional and independent elder-care specialist. Above all, I wanted to make sure that she had a continuity of compassionate care in a setting that was a small home with just a few residents. I did not want to place her in a sprawling, regimented, and impersonal institutional setting. I wanted her to be treated as an individual, for her to be known and understood, and to be surrounded by affection.I have three siblings, all as committed to my mother's care as I am. We are a very picky lot - two of whom are doctors who have degrees from Harvard specializing in gerontology - and we needed a very special place indeed for my mother that would satisfy all of us. My mother has spent three years at Better Living, and we drop in unannounced many times a week. My mom is always immaculate and happy. I know all the caregivers, who are unfailingly tender and careful with my mother, who adores them. It's a small, beautifully decorated home in a great part of Los Angeles, just north of Melrose, and close to Crescent Heights. My mother has access to a lovely garden, and the staff prepares personalized and well-presented meals that cater to my mother's vegetarian diet. The owners, Lucien Ezros and his mother Stella have become friends, and they are always so careful when they call to say "Every thing's alright, just wanted to ask you...". They know that your heart stops when you get a call, and this is the level of sensitivity that they display on every level. They are charming and genuinely kind people, and I know that they care personally about my mother - they show this in the way they deal with the big issues of medical care, right down to the small issues that ensure my mother's daily quality of life.I'm genuinely grateful that we found this perfect setting for my mother. I didn't know that alternatives this good were out there, and it's an extraordinary relief that she is so lovingly cared for
Where do I begin! I moved my beloved Godmother from New Orleans to Los Angeles about two years ago. Stella and Lucien Ezros came highly recommended by a friend whose mother was living there. I was a novice and really needed a lot of hand holding and assurance. My Aunt was very upset over the move and we knew that the care she needed was more than we could handle. Better Living has the kindest and caring staff. They really aim to please the client and the family. The facilities are immaculate, bright, good food and most of all affordable! Stella and Lucien are a team that responds with compassion and respects the dignity of their clients. I knew from the beginning that she was in a home that was safe and clean and that her needs would me met without question. Thanks Lucien and Stella....."Everything is okay."
When my mother's dementia and aging required more special care and attention I was referred to residential care. Residential care facilities offer caregiving in a home setting where your loved one feels "at home" and not "institutionalized". After visiting several homes my husband and I knew we had found the right one at Better Living! You have no idea how worthwhile a place like Better Living is until you're in a situation where you have a loved one you can't care for yourself. Their homes are welcoming, bright, airy, very clean and affordable. At first, my mother was very resistant to help but the caregivers worked with her and before long she welcomed the care they gave her. The food is great, there are daily activities for mind stimulation, outdoor terrace when the weather's warm and they make sure your loved one is kept clean (with dignity) and well taken care of so you don't have to worry. They are really nice and caring and keep you well informed and you're welcome to visit as often as you like. Our family is so grateful they were there as my mother lived out her final days here.
Lucien and his staff are a wonderful gift to the older adults and the families they serve. As a Certified Aging Life Nurse Manger, I do not receive any compensation from senior homes or agencies. And I can say without a doubt that I would recommend their homes to my own family and loved ones. Highly recommend!
