Patrons and prospective employees should beware that this business does not treat their staff well at all. Do not be fooled by the beautiful facility. Management is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful toward people trying to get jobs with this company. There is a systematic problem that trickles down from the Executive Director to the rest of the staff. You will even notice that the front reception desk is rarely attended to and there is no one answering phones or returning calls. One can only imagine how their elderly residents are being treated by staff members when the facility does not value the hard workers caring for them. They should be ashamed of themselves.
I have been so happy that we found Avita for our friend Gary. The facility is beautiful, food delicious, but most of all the people are wonderful;. The staff understands Gary's needs and foibles and takes wonderful care of him. They are kind, knowledgeable and so good to him. I thank heavens for Avita and the whole Avita family. Love it!~!!!
Our mother was a resident of Avita of Stroudwater for almost 2 1/2 years and we knew within 30 days that choosing Avita was the best decision we could have made. Mom thrived there. She was happy, well fed and well cared for. We had no concerns because Avita staff kept us regularly updated on all aspects of mom's care. They did a phenomenal job of protecting all residents during the pandemic and we could not be more grateful for our and our mother's entire experience.
Do not under any circumstances leave anyone you love here. The staff who work with clients do provide top notch service but upper management has no idea how to properly run their business and staff anywhere but into the ground. They treat their employees like trash, and are frequently unable or unwilling to provide sufficient staffing to handle the basic processes of caring for their guests, much less providing required meal/break times for their staff. This causes a drop in the quality in care that can be provided and is directly due to the incompetence of management and their blatant disrespect for their staff/guests but it doesn’t end there. They then threaten and intimidate their remaining employees who have been forced to call out due to Covid restrictions or even legitimate medical issues that required hospitalization.Do not work for these people or do business with them whatsoever. They only care about money, and have proved themselves inhuman monsters who take a twisted delight in threatening sick moms into working additional hours on Mother’s Day under threat of termination.
Over the past five years, I have had numerous opportunities to partner with the team at Avita of Stroudwater, including providing additional care for their residents and facilitating educational programs for family members and the public. I am always impressed by Avita's commitment, not only to delivering the highest level of care and offering a wide array of engagement activities for their residents, but also to furthering awareness of Alzheimer's and other dementias in the community. Their staff is knowledgeable and creative, compassionate and fun, and it is always evident to me just how committed they are to their residents and their families.Renate ScholzGeneral ManagerHome Instead, Gorham
My mother recently moved from living in an assisted living facility for 5+ years to this memory care facility. They made the transition absolutely wonderful. The staff did it with great efficiency and care.I was able to meet virtually with all of the department heads and my mother's care team. It was a fantastic experience and made me feel confident I had made the right choice for her care.
My daughter works at Avita of Stroudwater and the passion that she and every staff member have to better the lives for folks suffering from this disease is out of this world. The compassion and support that she receives from her entire team and corporate team is something you do not find in many communities like Avita. They encourage her to grow and let her know how valuable she is. The company has a philosophy of dignified living and respect for anyone that walks in the door. Through COVID they have been flexible to all their staff while still maintaining the best quality care for their residents. I would highly recommend anyone looking for residential living to explore all that Avita has to offer.
Our family was lucky enough to find this place when it was being built. We had an appointment with Courtney who explained what it would be like for our Mom. We've never regretted the decision. She loves being there, doing all the activities offered. The entire staff has been wonderful to her and to her family. Of course, the pandemic made all their efforts so much more important than in regular times. They have gone above and beyond during these stressful times. We love you Avita!
Memory care is tough. Most family caregivers are on that job 24/7. It’s difficult to deal with a loved one who has been diagnosed with a condition like our mother, especially around the clock. The decision to lose or take away independence is never easy. Change is difficult, not for just the patient, but for the family as well. Both feel the pains of change. There is guilt for being a party to making that decision to place a loved one.Staff came to mom’s apartment to reassure her and answer any concerns she had. The key is, they made her feel safe and welcomed to move to her new home. They helped her make it her home with little things like arranging her memory box, helping her decorate the way she wanted to. They have introduced her to other residents who have become fast friends. With fun activities like painting, dancing, tai chi, craft making to name a few, the residents enjoy laughs together, and yes, some tears together just like any family does. The staff are very caring, and passionate about what they do. Mom has her favorites — all of them.As for safety, they are top notch. We are in a rough time with COVID and separation from each other. A lot of long term care facilities have not faired well. Staff at Avita has been vigilant about the CDC guidelines, and as tough as it is on residents and us family members, they haven’t let up. They have been successful and are one of a few facilities that have remained safe.I used to work in long term care facilities for many years. As a matter of fact, I went undercover and reported to the state regarding serious issues I found during my employment at these places. Know that our mother would NOT be at Avita if there was even the tiniest concern that something wasn’t right. My siblings and I feel such relief that she is safe and treated like family there and more importantly, she is happy.Cathy Lemar
There is a lot to like about Avita . While the facility is perfectly designed for Alzheimers residents wth plenty of space inside and secure outside space, what is most impressive is the quality of the staff .Not only are they very skilled at what they do but it's more than just a job to them . It is very apparent that they have true affection for the residents while giving them first class care under very challenging circumstances .I feel fortunate that Gael is at Avita .The staff is focused on the quality of her life as her horrible disease progresses ..
I have worked with the wonderful staff at Avita as we worked together to provide care for a number of my clients who have moved there over the past few years, The community provides a warm, rich and researched based program for older adults diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease of other dementias. The building is state of the art and their meals are known for their variety and quality. I highly recommend Avita for any family looking for quality care for their loved one.Rich Blumenthal, OwnerAdvantage Home Care
The entire team at Avita is caring and compassionate. They provide meaningful activities for the residents and keep them engaged in spite of the pandemic. The neighborhoods are just the right size. The facility is beautiful and spotless. The staff is dedicated and a joy to be around.I have interacted with the team at Avita since the day they opened and I remain impressed by the excellent care they provide. As an occupational therapist, I understand the importance of keeping residents engaged in their ADLs and leisure which has always been Avita's focus.
My wife entered Avita Assisted Living in August 2020. She and I could not be more impressed with her experience. She loves her space and the dedicated help she receives. Avita is professional, motivated, friendly and highly competent. My wife’s smiles, happiness and safety speak volumes.Thank you, Avita.
This place is amazing! They are all so nice and treat my grandmother as part of their family. When she has a rough day they are sure to try and brighten it any way they can. They do all sorts of activities with her, from painting to flower pot making, singing and dancing. She has such a great time. My grandmother suffers from Alzheimer's and doesn't always remember things but what she does remember is 'she really likes it here (Avita). Couldn't ask for a better place to be! Thank you to the Avita team for all being so amazing!
I started at Avita as an intern with the social programming department. From the start all the staff welcomed me on with open arms. They helped show me the ropes and teach me about how Avita does things. The residents are some of the most friendly and compassionate people I have ever met. In such a short time I have learned so much. I look forward to spending more time at Avita and learning from its people.
Thank you to Avita, I was never aloud to say goodbye to my dying Grandfather. “Compassion visits”. Is that what it takes for his family to say goodbye and comfort him in his last breaths? My grandparents have not only been exposed to COVID by a worker once, but twice. And I still could not say goodbye to my grandfather? Not to mention, they also went out of their way to go through my grandfathers belongings, pack them up, and dump his belongings out on the loading dock like his belongings were garbage without communicating to his family. They also decided to take my grandfather’s wedding band, which he was supposed to be buried with on December 4th, and still have yet to return it.They are also trying to charge my deceased grandfather for the time it took them to pack his belongings (which again, they decided to do themselves without communicating to his family)So many days, hours, and minutes stolen. Not being able to communicate with my grandfather. Just to tell him I love him one last time and that I was so extremely lucky to have him as my grandfather.I don’t understand how an assisted living home can be so inconsiderate. Showing no compassion, no communication, and to try snagging some greedy money from my deceased grandfather one last time. Absolutely disgusting.I highly do NOT recommend placing your loved one in this incredibly selfish, non-compassionate home. Shame on you Avita.
I was waiting inside like i was told i could do by my girlfriend who is an employee and i was rudely told to leave the building even tho im waiting for my girlfriend who is down the hall and would be done in 5 minutes. It shows very little respect for the families of the employees. Its not acceptable and not a family friendly environment when you get questioned just for sitting. I will not return again you made that decision very easy
The folks at Avita have been so supportive during the trying times of getting my mother in law into the facility during the Covid pandemic. Our family had many concerns, but the staff put us at ease and kept in constant contact with the process. “Mum” was reluctant to go to “any” facility, however, she settled in well and is thriving very well in her new environment. This is a direct reflection of how diligent, caring, and well trained the staff is at Avita of Stroudwater. I highly recommend them.
Avita is a beautiful space. The staff has been amazing, caring and respectful during my mother's recent move into Stroudwater. Mom's first week could have been hard on the whole family but they kept her active, engaged and having fun! Avita's caregivers are loving, understanding and kind. Mom could not be better cared for.
