  • Exclusive Interview Insights

Our team personally reached out and conducted an insightful interview with this community on Jan. 4, 2024. Here's what we learned:

    Waitlist and Availability

Aperian Care International does not maintain a static waitlist due to the dynamic nature of resident turnover. Availability of beds changes daily, influenced by factors such as discharges, hospital visits, and other unpredictable events. The facility can predict openings when residents are discharged back home or transfer to another location.

    Respite and Short-Term Stays

The community offers respite care for a duration of two weeks, catering to temporary needs such as family vacations or busy periods. For stays longer than two weeks but less than three months, the facility provides short-term care. Beyond three months, the stay is considered long-term, and income is due to the facility for room and board.

    Dining Experience

Residents on the second and third floors have access to a dining room and may also choose to eat in their rooms. The first floor, designated for short-term residents, does not have a dining area due to the presence of the therapy gym. Meals are served buffet-style, with food first distributed in the dining area before being delivered to residents in their rooms.

    Safety Measures

The facility is equipped with pull-cord alert lights in both rooms and bathrooms, with distinct sounds and colored lights to indicate the location of a resident in need. For individuals with dementia, wander guards are used to prevent unsupervised exits from the building. The elevator is programmed to halt if a resident with a wander guard attempts to leave, requiring a pin to resume operation. Additional safety features include bed rails, floor mats, and seat grips to prevent falls and enhance stability.

    Staffing

Aperian Care International employs both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). The allocation of nursing staff varies based on the needs of the residents and the scheduling requirements of the facility.

    Communication with Families

Communication with family members is primarily conducted via phone calls. The facility reaches out to emergency contacts provided by the hospital for updates on the resident's condition, hospital transfers, room changes, falls, refusal of care or medication, and other significant events.

    Admissions Contact

For admissions inquiries, Crystal from the admissions department can be contacted. She is knowledgeable and ready to assist with questions regarding the facility's services and policies.
