I would not recommend this place for anyone's family member. Left alone in her bed all day, everyday. No stars. No caring. Lost both hearing aids and no concern about communication. Worst place ever. Went completely downhill in the last 2-3 years.

One star for good cleanliness of the facility. One star for mostly friendly, helpful staff. No star for having clothes, blankets and personal items lost or stolen. No star for lack of communication, miscommunication and disorganization. No star for staff shortage (20 vacant positions) and undertrained staff. My father was in their care for 4 months in 2021. This was during the COVID-19 pandemic, which accounts to some degree for the staff shortages. Back in 2020, they had 200 COVID-19 cases and 20 deaths.  Fortunately, they have since improved their sanitation protocols and there were few cases in 2021.As an example of how bad it can be, my father was delivered to an offsite doctor's appointment wearing clothes that belonged to someone else (per markings/labels), a wheelchair with different resident's name on it, and, worst of all, the wrong patient chart -- it belonged yet another resident, with a completely different name.  Fortunately, this was for a routine checkup, not for a surgical procedure or other urgent matter.  Appalling, none the less.My father passed away August 31, 2021.  We believe he succumbed to his medical conditions (cancer, stroke) but we also think he might have lived for a while longer had he been in a more professionally managed facility. We hope that this review proves useful to other families, so they can be as vigilant as possible to try protect the health and well-being their loved one. Caveat emptor!

My mother who had cancer was at this facility for 42 days and compared to other skilled nursing facilities I have seen and experienced this a good one. The support staff was very kind and competent. Nursing staff is competent but a few lacked the compassion I would expected. Perhaps they are overly burdened, or burned out. Facility was nice and clean. My mother shared a room with another person which is better than other facilities that can have 3 to 4 people per room. This is a very busy facility with case managers that seem overloaded with and social services area that were equally busy. Sometimes called back took too long in my opinion. Their weakness at this facility is communication with our family. Many times I had to call to get status on my mom's condition rather than getting weekly updates from them. One communication error caused my mom to be transported to a doctor's appointment in person when it was a telephone appt. My mom  was transported by wheelchair transport and ended up being dropped off at the doctor's office by herself. She was unable to speak or see. As a result my mom was severely in a weakened condition for the next two days. The communication issues was discussed and resolved but should not have occurred.  Beyond this issue I would recommend this facility as it is better than other facilities we have experienced and seen

I'd give this a HIGH NEGATIVE ZERO. OMG, PLEASE, I BESEECH EVERYONE, IF YOU LOVE YOUR ELDERLY, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BRING THEM TO ALAMITOS WEST REHAB FACILITY!!!My mom was discharged yesterday early afternoon from Los Alamitos Med Ctr for short-term rehab to Alamitos West as recommended by the attending Dr. She got admitted and settled into her room around 2p , and we were told that she didn't want to be disturbed. So we just booked visit appointments (as this was policy) for Saturday 5/22nd through Friday 5/28. Thankfully, my sister and son visited her today, Saturday, 5/22nd at 1:15p, and found out thru my  mom that she wasn't given lunch. After initial denials by staff on hand, it was discovered that they "overlooked" her!  She eventually got lunch, but this treatment on day 1 pretty much told us she needed to get out of there fast!  I called and left a message with her attending doctor of our plans to get her out of there today, and was told by doctor on call that we can take her out without physicians note. My sister and son got her out around 4:23p, Hallelujah!  Rest assured we plan to report this place to MediCare and MediCal so that they can be scrutinized closely, if not blacklisted from rehab and senior living list. To the elderly residents left behind and unattended throughout the day, our thoughts and prayers are with you . May you have friends or family that can fight for the care and treatment you so deserve!

My mom was admitted to this place ,  Alamitos West ,  on Mon night , March 2nd at 6:00 pm!!!!!   She is there for PT following a partial hip replacement.     She laid in bed for 24 hours before PT showed up.   Then when he got there he didn't know what to do because he didn't have the Drs orders!!!!   So Wed morning,   It's now been 36 hours & day 5 since her surgery,   She should be up & moving!!!  Risk of pneumonia, bed sores, muscle weakening etc...... is enhanced.    On Wed late morning AFTER I complained ,  I contacted my Transition Coordinator-   FINALLY PT started & many other issues of concern were taken care of -  like diaper change & addressing her butt sore,  using a spirometer ,    Other basic needs which had been ignored!  Like getting her meds on time.    Positioning her in her bed correctly.    I did call the rehab place this morning but they don't even answer their phone!  They say to leave a message and they'll get back to you the next business day.   Unbelievable !!!!!    My mom is there for PT,  which might be 45 mins a day 6 days a week -   And what about the other 23 hours !?!!!  I would never leave my mom alone here !  I have someone with her all day,  myself or care Givers.    I also don't know what I'd do without our Transition Coordintor !  She was able to get some of these issues resolved.    My mom received PT today,  they got her up & moving.  Also took care of most other issues.     This place gets a decent rating through the Case Manager.  It also looks appealing,   Clean etc.......   BUT,   Be ready to advocate for adequate care!!!!    I've also complained to Ombudsman -  they are very good taking interest regarding elderly neglect & abuse !     I would not recommend this facility ever !!!!   Beverly Airhart

My grandmas been there for about five years now. We monitor her all the time to make sure that everything is going good with her. Do you any concerns that I have is his death her clothes keep coming up missing and then they're putting clothes on her that her not even hers. So she has brand new clothes and they disappear. She has her name marked on all her clothing. Another thing is when they're eating for morning noon and evening, they stop using bibs on them, which are made out of cloth and my grandmother is always really full of food all over her clothes.Whenever there is anything going on with my grandma they call my mom to let her know right away. She always looks pretty well clean as her skin her nails and her hair. So this is pretty much in a good place. Just concerned with certain things.

My father was admitted into the rehab section of the facility on August 4, 2019 after being released from the hospital. My expectation of what to expect was low as our experience at the local hospital had been extremely poor with some of the nursing staff.  However, our experience was fantastic. First, the nurses and CNAs are consistent. My father would have the same nurse for each shift which provided not only consistency but also allowed him to form a relationship with each one. Each one treated him with respect, empathy and love. Although all were great with him, I especially appreciated Morgan, Amelia, Belle, Nareesha, Betty, Marisol, and Luz. The charge nurse Laardi was great in answering my questions and following through with requests.  My father was moved to long term care on August 25, 2019 which meant that we moved to a different section with new nurses. I did everything I could to fight against the move because I did not want to change nurses but I lost the appeal. The long term care section proved to be as great as the rehab section. Aaloua, Kathryn, Melissa, Sonya, and Diego were equally caring with my father. Unfortunately, my father  passed away on September 3, 2019 from the illness that caused his admission in the first place. Aaloua was his nurse at the time he passed and I can't say enough about her. Although we would have rather been at home caring for him until his passing, being at Alamitos West was the 2nd best option. The staff and the facility itself was a true blessing to our family. As a side note, the facility is clean and welcoming and the admin staff and social worker were great.

This seems like a great facility to stay at. Very nice and clean, friendly nurses, and it sounds like there are plenty of activities for their residents. That being said, the admissions process is a complete nightmare. I first visited the facility in early June 2019 and began the process of transferring my mother their from another facility in Long Beach. My mother has Multiple Sclerosis and her balance has gotten bad enough that she can't really walk anymore and she has mild cognitive issues, mostly with her short term memory. Her current facility doesn't have any open long term spots and since her care is fairly straightforward, I was very surprised to hear that Alamitos West had declined to take her. So we had applied in early June. We didn't hear anything back so I called on June 22 and spoke with Eileen. Eileen said that Brenda was supposed to call me that week and that Alamitos West had decided not to take my mother as a resident. I asked why, Eileen said she didn't know. I asked if I could appeal the decision, Eileen said no. I asked if their facility could provide any assistance in finding another facility, Eileen said it was against their policy. Eileen was extremely rude and unhelpful. On June 24, I visited their neighboring facility, Katella Senior Living and spoke with their admissions director who said she would call Pradeep, the executive director of Alamitos West, and figure out why they wouldn't take her. I was told to expect a call from Pradeep that day. When I didn't hear anything, I called and left a message for Pradeep at Alamitos West's front desk. I did this on June 26 and July 1 and still never received a call back. Finally, I got a voicemail from Wendy say she would evaluate my mom in person on July 3. I met Wendy for the evaluation, she said my mom looks better in person than on paper and to expect and answer by the end of day July 5. I called on July 5, no one helped me. My father called July 7 and Eileen told him that they would not be accepting her. I called Pradeep on July 8 and left another message. It is now August 29 and I have still never spoken with Pradeep. I have left multiple messages and still don't have a reason as to why they can't take my mom. The decision to put my mother in a long-term care facility was a very difficult decision to make. This has been a very difficult and emotional time for my family and to be consistently ignored by this facility has been extremely frustrating. Who knows, maybe we dodged a bullet. If they're ignoring us this way, who knows how they treat that families of their actual patients.

Overall it is a good health service facility. Recently however, I observed that the weekend male nurse wetted the pillow case to wipe the patient. IMO, it was unhealthy and not clean. The wipes are there to use and should have been used. Upper management should know, he may have done the same thing to other patients.

My dad was sent here for a week for some rehab and to finish his IV, I was really concerned since the "last place" he was sent was such a bad experince.  The second I walked in to Alamitos West I had a good feeling. It didnt have that smell that other nursing home have (not clean smell).  It was clean all the patients were being well taken care of.  As the days went by my Dad kept telling me how nice the nurses are and the guy that helped him get up and ready in the morning  was really nice to him, I wish I got his name.. if I ever had to have my Dad go to any nursing home this would be it.  I am truly grateful for being at ease while my Dad was in here.  The only issue I had was a few items of clothing never came back form the Laudry but we can take that loss with the good care Dad received those missing clothes are not that big if a deal..  Thanks you to all the staff and keep up the good work..

My husband is a physician and over the years has seen patients in just about every nursing home/rehab in the area.  Last week my husband was transferred to Alamitos West from Los Alamitos hospital for rehab.  His experience there, as a patient, couldn't have been better.I personally was in another rehab a couple of years ago after a hip replacement.  That one was supposed to be the best in the area.  My experience there was very good.  However Alamitos West is far and above the best rehab, in a class by itself.  The care here was phenomenal.  The nurses, CNA's, therapists were so friendly, smiling and helpful at all times.  The facility is immaculate, no smell like you would find in another place.  The food is very good with many substitutions to choose from if the main meal didn't appeal to you.So many daily activities to participate in, such as bingo, lectures, classes, therapy dogs, games and more.  The patio is lovely with many, many tables, chairs, umbrellas and even a soothing waterfall. My husband was quite impressed that the administrator, Pradeep, is a hands on administrator, not sitting in his office behind closed doors, but frequently walking the floor to make sure all is good.My husband will recommend any and all of his patients that need nursing home/rehab care choose this facility.  He will make sure his colleagues know how satisfying his experience was.

I worked with Pradeep Muley, administrator, for almost two years. I have never seen such a kind, caring, and safety-conscious leader. He asked me to assist him with interviewing employees so he could better understand how to respond to employee concerns and needs. If I had to place my mother in a nursing home, I would feel confident placing her at Alamitos West, knowing that Pradeep and, Marilyn Elgincolin, RN, Director of Nursing, were overseeing her care and staff. They have been an effective team for many years. Pradeep works longer and harder than any leader I have ever known.

My grandma lives here and I like how I get to visit and stay with her for hours at a time. The parking is decent. First off, every moment I get with my grandma reminds me of the days when it was just me and her with her rambling about superstitions, stories, and advice...she was mostly my caretaker growing up while mom worked, so being with her made me appreciate her stories. It also makes me happy to visit and witness the compassion SOME nurses and CNA's have. I give lots of credit to the CNA's...I witnessed one CNA really bonding and making her patient smile in the dining room today, and she didn't even see me watching. I like how they make an effort to make someone smile or talk to the patients and not ignore them due to being "busy" like most medical staff around the world. I, myself am an ER nurse in a hospital in east LA and I understand the staff when it can be overwhelming...the staff doesnt show any overwhelming stress, they all are very content and work with grace...a simple smile along the hallways is what I see, never a frowning face...and the aura of the place is fresh and calming...the place is clean and I have not witnessed something I didnt like yet..so props to housekeeping! Lastly, I'm am greatful that my loved one is staying here...she has legit good direct TV cable in her room and shares a room with an aspirating patient with gurgling sounds every so often, but my grandma doesnt mind it. Note that I'm making thia review from 11am to 3pm, this is morning shift so I dont know what happens at night... So far my grandma has not made any complaints, but we have a huge family (she has 2 sons, 8 daughters, about 32 grandkids, and 13 great grandkids) so she is frequently monitored. Thank you for all the help Alamitos West!

Best Skilled Nursing Facility you will find! SNF are only as good as their current staff, I urge you to actually go down and see Alamitos West Health and Rehabilitation in person and for yourself. See how the new team they have assembled is really working tirelessly to keep all their patients and family happy. What an awesome Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility Alamitos West is!!!Under the new management of the Administrator Pradeep, the care of the Head Social Worker Kathy, you can not a find a more CARING and professional environment. The Director of Nurses, and the Nursing Staff are top notch, Kathy and Marco and all the staff in Social Working, and the Staff over all as a whole under the management of Pradeep are really setting the standard for how good a Skilled Nursing Facility can be. It really takes a team effort and thats exactly what you find at Alamitos West a Real Team and Real Team Effort. What a wonderful addition to the best medical community in California, Los Alamitos is the Beverly Hills of Health Care.

Unfortunate to hear that they dismiss a genuinely sweet employee. Wrongful termination by Pradeep the executive director, no sympathy or empathy. Left my friend without a job after she resigned and worked her last day at her pervious employer. She was unable to make the second day of her orientation due to her coverage calling off last minute, and being the exceptional nurse that she is, didn't want her patients to go without care. She called ahead of time to let them know she couldn't make it for orientation, they agreed gave another scheduled day, only to recieve a voicemail a few hours later letting her go. I can only imagine how this man Pradeep is towards his staff and patients. If you read this Pradeep shame on you!

I have a friend here rehabing from a broken shoulder. She has been a patient for over 3 months and recently I ran into her at our local bar singing drinking and dancing. How is it that a patient is allowed out of the hospital to party at the local bar? I called and spoke to the charge nurse and she said she could have had a pass if she was released to a responsible party. The person that picked her up is a woman that recently got her 3rd DUI guess thats responsible. Its really great to see what are tax dollars are paying for when you can go out and party at the bar at night and then return to the rehab hospital where your waited on hand and foot and your Medi Cal insurance is paying for your care. This is outrageous and frankly unbelievable that this is allowed. What has our medical community come to.

My father was sent to Alamitos West Health Care Center after he has a bed sore and pneumonia and had been hospitalized a few days at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. They kept him doped up, did not listen to him about his leg pain, covered up his foot, and refused to send him to the hospital when I told them his leg was cold and bluish. I asked if he had gangerineand the head nurse said no. She refused to let me call an ambulance to take him to a hospital. I tried to contact his doctors, but to no avail. Finally a doctor checked him. His covered up foot was black! He had less than two weeks to live so his leg was amputated. The facility hires uneducated foreign workers who do not have good medical care knowledge. I complained to the State nursing licensing bureau. Sanctions were taken and a fine was levied. Problems still continue and sanctions are still taken to no avail. More people are dying or being injured because of the neglect, ignorance, and poor care. Do not take your loved ones there!!!

I brought my mom here after a horrible experience at Regency Oaks in Long Beach. This place was wonderful!!!!! Not only did they take care of the pressure sore my mom got at Regency Oaks, but they also got my mom up walking and she was able to go home after only 3 months. Everyone there is wonderful!!! They went above and beyond to help with whatever she needed and whenever she called for someone to help her, they were there right away, I think the longest she ever had to wait for someone was maybe 15 minutes. If I could give them more then 5 stars I most certainly would!!! Thank you to everyone at Alamitos West for taking such great care of my mom!! If I ever had to place her in a SNF again, this would be it without any question!!!

My husband Gilles Latreille has been in this facility for almost 2 yrs. They give excellent services in all departments. Cna’s, LVN’s , RN’s, are caring, friendly, knowledgeable and hard working. The whole environment is so clean and no smell of nursing home. They have good food and lots of activities for the residents to make them healthy and strong again. My husband and i are very happy and satisfied being part of them. They are 5 stars and I highly recommend for other families and redidents looking for place. Emelita Latreille

Everyone was wonderful, helpful, and ON IT. They cared for my mom like their own. She was ordered extras to help her stay comfortable like an air matress. This place has gotten a "bum rap" in the past. My experience was wonderful. They have OT, PT, Activities, Speech therapist, all sorts of other staff that are truly there for your loved one. Thanks Alamitos West! Sincerely, Sue Briquelet Ashley Barbara Constuble ' s daughter
