My sister received care here after a bad fall and spinal cord injury. The facility was adequate and everyone was always helpful and nice. We felt that my sister was well taken care of during her two months here. We were mostly present during normal hours and were there for her therapy sessions. Yes, the facility is dated but it's clean and well kept. The staff were nothing but great to my sister and our family. We hated to see her leave there but her time was up.
My Mother has been here for 17 months after a fall that resulted in a fractured pelvis. During this time there have been six aids that have been truly kind and caring people, now only three of them are left. I question the care during the 2nd and 3rd shift hours when we are not there. She routinely comes up with large black and purple bruises on her arms and legs, and the staff always blames her instead of taking the blame for rough handling. The owner claims this is a 5 star facility...not even close!...but you pay 5 star prices..$300 a day. The "real" 5 star facilities in this area actually look like a five star hotels inside. This place looks like an old hospital inside. The rooms share a toilet without showers.Do your research there are better facilities around.
This place is horrible. My grandmother was there not even 12 hours before they neglected her needs and treated her poorly. Her oxygen wasn’t working and no one came to help her. She finally called my mother from her cellphone, my mother had to call an ambulance because she was gasping for air. Who knows how long they would have ignored her. We are lucky she had her phone to call someone for help, or the worst could have happened. Please do not trust this facility with your loved one. It’s not worth the risk.
My Aunt Vicki was here for 2 weeks of rehab. Everyone we met that works at the Abbey from the nurses and aides, the rehab dept., social services, the cleaning people, desk greeters, Theresa and Missy, food servers, doctor, literally EVERYONE we/she met were super special people! (I hope I didn't leave anyone out.) They serve really good food with several choices at every meal. The place was so very clean which I noticed immediately! Great parties and events are planned for almost every day too. She loved it!
This was my first experience with any type of rehab. I was there for 2 and 1/2 weeks and I cannot say a single bad thing about my care, the employees or their abilities. Every one was very friendly and caring. The meals were very good, my room when I arrived was spotless. the employees made my stay as good as it could be. If I ever need care again this is the place I would want to go to. Highly recommend.
I have worked alongside the Mount Carmel nurses and techs on several occasions. I am an in home caregiver who has sat with and assisted with my clients as they have come thru this facility. I am not impressed at all with the staff. My least favorite RN would be the night shift nurse named Bill. He peeked his head in the door ONE time during my 10 hour shift. No bed rotations were done, no vitals taken, no checking my client's catheter (which I had reported was giving my client pain SEVERAL TIMES). When I finally went up to the nurse's station he acted very put out that he was being asked to give care. His exact words were "what do you want me to do....give him meds?" Yes, some pain meds would be great. Or maybe come and look at the catheter to see if something is wrong. Very unhelpful and lazy.
My Mom is my heart. I want the best for her. Two years ago my Mom came to Villa Theresa & was highly recommended. Everyone including the food was perfect for Mom's recovery. Now it is Mount Carmel, they are short staffed which causes delay to care for those in need. The food is much to be desired. I am going to do some research for better care for her & if it is not available I will have to bring her home & care for her myself.

I can't say enough good things about Abbey. The staff was amazing to my mother, she loved everyone there. The amount of activities are unbelievable and the entire staff always goes above and beyond to make the residents life better. I don't think you could make a better choice for you loved ones.
